Lock Screen Widgets for Windows Phone beta released [Homebrew]
Lock Screen Widgets, a concept by Windows Phone Hacker, has just been released as beta to the homebrew community. With this app, the user will be able to add app information in the form of small live tile widgets on the lock screen. Information displayed can range from weather reports to RSS feeds. We previously looked at the preview video of the concept last week, but now you're able to try it out for yourself.
To be able to use Lock Screen Widgets, you'll need a rooted Windows Phone. Remember that this is the beta version so issues are to be expected, and feedback is appreciated by the developer. Optimisation and further improvements are currently in development, so be sure to keep up-to-date with progress. Head on over to Windows Phone Hacker to download the beta.

I'm assuming its something more than dev unlocked?

Yes, there are two types of unlocks for Windows Phone: Developer Unlocked and Interop Unlocked. You will need to have both done to your device, which currently isn't possible on the 2nd Gen devices the last time I checked. It may be possible now, but you would have to check over on the XDA Developers forum.

There are actually 3 types of unlock, dev, interop, & full unlock (rooted), which is currently only possible through custom roms. Also as stated above, 2nd gen devices are currently left out of this party :S . But the guys over at xda are working on it.
jaxbot says:
Actually, there are four. Full unlock means you can run native EXEs. Rooted means the policy system lets applications do things at higher privileges. A device need not have full unlock to be rooted, and a full unlocked device may not be rooted. This is a good thing, because it means that expanding support for this application is a lot easier than one would think.

5G?
cannon#WP says:
Yea. You can change it in the registry. I have my quantum set to show "4G" when it's using HSPA.

The 5G thing is a registry tweak. Don't be surprised..
Anyway, this lock widgets app is sweet already. I hope more stuff will be added soon.

And when it will be available for the general population?
NPGMBR says:
Don't really care for it myself. To me it just makes the lock screen look cluttered andy messy like Android.
Ok, now I've watched the video and like it a little more but wouldn't use it myself. (at the moment)
