This is a rather interesting way to test the sturdiness of the Nokia Lumia 920. One that sports fans may find on the appealing side.

Pitted against the Samsung Galaxy S3, the two smartphones attempted to play catch with a fastball shot out of a pitching machine. The Samsung didn't fair to well, shattering the case and screen on impact.

The Lumia 920, on the other hand, performed like a Major Leaguer.  The video captured the fastball impact and continued to record after being knocked off the stand. The screen survived and the casing was left unscathed.

I wonder how the Lumia 920 would have faired if it were strapped to a bat?

Canadian mobile operator Rogers has announced on its official blog plans to bring in more Lumia 920 stock, with a stronger selection of colours for consumers. Taking feedback into account, the team reports that the network will offer the Windows Phone in red, white and yellow. As well as this, there's also a small contest where you could win one of the new Lumia 920s.

Rogers argues it was the first network to launch a Windows Phone 8 smartphone. That may be the case, but we've certainly no forgotten just how difficult it was to physically locate one for purchase. The Mobile Nations team raided a number of stores across the country, until eventually we managed to snatch one.

We’re still not quite sure what the situation is for Nokia’s stock of the Lumia 920. Word is that they kept production limits tight due to a fear of having a warehouse filled with unsold devices just collecting dust. That’s a dangerous position to be in when your financials are as precarious as Nokia’s.

Being the case, it’s still interesting to read that in the Netherlands, where the Lumia 920 just went on sale today, at least one major reseller (Bol.com) is already reporting stock is so low that they can’t guarantee any orders past tomorrow. To make it worse, they don’t even know when the device will be back in stock.

Nokia has kicked off 2013 with a new challenge where two selected winners will bag a pair of Purity HD headphones by Monster. Sounds tempting, right? All that's required is for owners of new Lumia Windows Phones to match the colour of their device with an object or surrounding and snap a photo. They emphasise the cooler, more out there, the better. A few examples were provided by the team to get the idea engine started (see above).

We get it, you get it, and everyone gets it, the camera on the Lumia 920 kicks ass. Whether devouring photons in low-light situations or reproducing great audio in videos, the 920 can handle it all with aplomb.

So here is another one of those videos showing off a killer feature unique to Nokia and their PureView technology, specifically the optical image stabilization. The video puts a Lumia 920 and a competitor on a hexacopter at the Nokia Lumia 920 launch event in India.

Although Nokia was not announcing any new Lumia Windows Phones here at CES 2013 in Las Vegas, they were still present here making sure people know that they mean business.

Luckily for us their photo guru, Juha Alakarhu, was there to take our questions regarding cameras and the future of mobile camerawork. Being in charge of Nokia’s imaging for their Lumia line gives him special insight into the field and since we’re photo enthusiasts ourselves, we had a lot to discuss.

Most of our conversation concentrated on chatting about their current cream of the crop, the Nokia Lumia 920 but who could also ignore that 808 Pureview with its 41MP image sensor? Not us. So both imaging technologies were discussed in tandem as well as what Nokia is thinking about what’s coming next. Join us after the break for some interesting tidbits behind Nokia’s photographic magic.

The Lumia 920 has a super camera, that much is already known. We've recorded some sample footage of a gig in full action to demonstrate the power of the Windows Phone, particularly in low-light environments. Now a band in Denmark has been filmed using a Lumia 920. The song being performed is called "Reach For The Sky," but the band itself is nameless for the time being.

We've seen the Nokia Lumia 920 make cameos in several venues but this commercial spot for KPN may be the largest gathering of the Windows Phones we've seen to date.

KPN is a mobile service provider in the Netherlands and chose the Lumia 920 to showcase their 4G network. If my count is correct and this isn't some fancy special effects trick, it took 875 Lumia 920's to shoot this twenty-five second spot.  I wonder what they did with the Windows Phones once the commercial was shot?

If you've been wondering if the Nokia wireless charging pad would make for a good car charger, take a gander at the above video. MakeIt Diy is offering a "do it yourself" guide to converting a charging pad into a car charger/cradle.

The charging pad is held into place with a Garmin Nuvi vent mount and hard wired into the car's fuse box using a "add-a-fuse" attachment that can be picked up at most automotive stores.  You'll need to glue a mounting plate to the back of the charging pad to mount it to he vent mount.

To better hold the Windows Phone in place, neodymium magnets are taped to the charging pad and inside the skin case on the Nokia Lumia 920. It's not a bad solution to hold you over until Nokia releases a wireless charging cradle for the car.

We've taken a look at two Windows Phone 8 camera apps, ProShot and CameraPro, that give you a decent amount of control over your Windows Phone 8 camera. ProShot has a little friendlier user interface but CameraPro has a few more features.

While both these apps can be appealing to those who are looking for more control over their Windows Phone, do they make a difference where the rubber meets the road? Is the image quality with these two apps better than what the native camera app can produce?

We loaded up CameraPro and ProShot on to the Nokia Lumia 920 to see how image quality shook out.

UK retailer Clove has announced on their blog that the Lumia 920 will be available once again on the company's website. The Windows Phone has been absent since late last year due to either high demand or lack of production on Nokia's part. We've been keeping close tabs on availability in a number of markets since the handset was announced back in September.

Nokia has been a busy bee indeed, and has begun rolling out a number of updates for its collection of apps and system apps available for Windows Phone hardware. Accessories, World of Redbull, Weather, Panorama and Ringtone Maker. We're not entirely sure what's new in the apps that have been bumped to a new version, and life is made that much more difficult with the Windows Phone Store being down.

We've seen plenty of impressive video footage captured by the Nokia Lumia 920 Windows Phone and this time we see it used to make a music video.

Windows Phone Central reader Soundtweaker shared this video when commenting on the Fan Video on the Lumia 920 we posted earlier. Soundtweaker not only used the Lumia 920 to shoot the video but those magnetic lens attachments were used for the fish-eyed portions of the video.

Granted the movie out takes from Frogs wasn't shot with the Lumia 920 but the portions shot came out great. The wide angle lens attactment preformed well and Illogistical Resource Department's "The Attack of the Frogs" is a nice example of what the Nokia Lumia 920 is capable of.

If there’s one thing our audience knows is that those with Nokia Lumias tend to be…loyal. It’s not hard to imagine why as there is something quite unique and satisfying when handling a Nokia phone, especially their high-end polycarbonate ones like the 800, 900 or their best yet the Lumia 920.

One of our forum members, Nisse Tuta, has gone ahead and made a gorgeous video review of his beloved 920 and it is hands down one of the nicest tributes we’ve seen. Nisse was also behind the other recent video showing off the 920’s wireless charging capability, a video that was also highly enjoyable and entertaining.

As the video notes, let’s cue the music and get the shallowest depth of field possible, because this is the Lumia 920. Not just a phone but art. Head into our forums for more to ask questions, learn new tricks or to just have fun.
