Lunar X for Windows Phone, shuttling around the moon

Lunar X

Lunar X is a Windows Phone game that reminds me of the old Lunar Lander arcade game but with a little more gusto.

The story line goes that the Mayan's were right and as the world ends you escape to the moon to find a new home. Lunar X has you in the cockpit of a lunar lander finding your way around the moon's surface.

The game has two difficulty levels, forty levels of play and customizable ships. Lunar X is a challenging game for your Windows Phone and not a bad way to pass the time.

Lunar X has two difficulties of play, easy and hard. A tutorial is available when you first play the game to walk you through the ship customization screens where you can modify the engines, chasis, and control layout. If you don't like the preset ship layouts you can design your own.

Lunar X customization

Once you've skipped or completed the tutorial, you jump into game play. Each difficulty setting has twenty levels of play where you have to navigate your lunar lander to a landing platform. The game screen layout has your fuel levels running across the top of the screen and your thruster controls scattered about the bottom of the screen.

You navigate your ship by firing your thrusters accordingly. The longer you burn your thrusters, the quicker your fuel is consumed. It's best to use your thrusters in bursts. Some levels have bonus items that will re-fuel your ship along the way but fuel conservation as well as navigation can be rather challenging with Lunar X.

Lunar X game screen

While Lunar X does have on-screen hints pop-up from time to time on game play, the help section could use some beefing up. Other than that, graphics are appealing, game play challenging and Lunar X is a fun game to pass the time with.

There are three versions of Lunar X, compatible with Windows Phone 8 and 7.x devices, in the Windows Phone Store. You have an easy (really easy) Lunar X Kids version and a free, ad-supported version, Lunar X Free. There is a free trial version for Lunar X (the paid version) with the full version running $1.99 that you can find here in the Windows Phone Store.

Second. This game has "X" in it, but unfortunately lacks "-box".

Thanks for playing along :)

Lunar Lander with customizable ships, great idea.

Lunar X developer: can you please publish this game here in the Brazilian WP Store? I can help with this.

Jaskys says:

Lumia X? Oh wait...

Another week without a release of an xbox title??? Summer drought is getting worse with only Halo on offer from last week.

If only I didn't have 5 GB of 'other' memory stored away, maybe I could enjoy some of these cool looking games..

gautam12 says:

Not enough memory! :/ Out of 7.1 GB Usable my 817mb is in others? Can anyone explain what is this? how to clear it up? I see nothing on connecting to my pc :(

EDIT : 1.9GB is used by system too. So apparantely we are just given 5GB Usable NO NO Wait, 871mb eaten up too approx 500mb Temp Files though we can clear it up but it builds up again. SO in 8gb i get 3.5GB Usable Good WP :(

I think your new here, u cant delete the "other" storage....this is the only thing i hate about windows phone 8

gautam12 says:

So will this thing get fixed on Amber update? because we can't move apps to external storage and as i explained Out of 8gb just 3.5GB is merely usable

No it is still not fixed the only way to fix it is by doing a factory reset...:(

Forc3 says:

Actually its pretty easy to control your Other storage.... Main reasons for a growing "other storage" are:
skydrive(Pictures)
Disable Auto upload in your settings.
Go to skydrive and move all pictures from skydrivecameraroll folder to another folder (or delete this files completely if you want its up to you), now go to your Pictures Hub click on albums select skydrive and let it resync...:)
Problem here is: For an unknown reason skydrive saves a copy of every uploaded picture on your phone (maybe for showcasing in Pictures hub? who knows)
Facebook integration (again: Pictures)
I noticed this a while back... Facebook Picturesyncing suffers from the same problem as skydrive sync, I havent tried deleting those folders on my phone though...
your Apps
yes they too consume space in "other", too! But only their installation files and unfortunatly those are non removable :/ deleting your unused/unneeded apps might be handy.
Other Apps/Data which consume Other storage:

  • Maps
  • SMS Messages
  • E-Mail
  • I-Explorer
  • etc.

I hope this helps! :P

Oh thanks you are a life saver. I just tested this clicked 25 images , my settings was set to autoupload med quality images and checked storage it was increased to 6mb , i did not use any other app or anything in b/w.

So maybe my 533 Camera Roll takes a bit memory, will do the folder swap and tell if that works too

ebk14 says:

Just tried your trick of deleting all my SkyDrive pics. I deleted them all (totaled about .5 GB) but it only cleared up about 12mb on my phone..

Forc3 says:

Did you go into Pictures Hub and let the skydrive folder resync??

brorim says:

love this thing. :)
