Magenta Lumia 900 ROM for AT&T shows up on Nokia's servers. Close to release?
A non-working, magenta Lumia 900 for Italian Nokia stores
For a few months now we've been teasing the Magenta variant of the Nokia Lumia 900. We first reported that it was scheduled for a Mother's Day release, which would have seen appropriate but alas that never came to be. Since then we've seen the Magenta device show up worldwide a few times including Nokia's own Facebook page but it has yet to be released anywhere.
Now, if you load up NaviFirm Plus and check Nokia's servers, you'll see a Magenta ROM for the Lumia 900 looking pretty. The listed file name is RM-808 VAR ATT MAGENTA (059N3B9) and it corresponds with the same ROM and firmware available for the current cyan, matte black and glossy white versions already available on AT&T.
A snapshot from Navifirm clearly showing a Magenta Lumia 900 ROM for AT&T
While there is no word on availability we're going to take this as a major sign that AT&T is gearing up for its release and it is rather close too.

How is going to buy this, when it is running a dead OS in a few months ... Smh

I have to agree with you on this one
jdep1 says:
+1 by the time it comes out Microsoft will have a date on the release of wp8. It's like buying a red iPhone 3g you are only buying the color but it's considered old technology in comparison with other smartphones that are being release.
WinFan1 says:
I apologize Daniel I phrased it wrong I just think with the recent announcement people will feel that it wouldn't be worth the money contract wise or out of pocket I love my lumia and am happy with current capabilities just not sure others will feel the same
lippidp says:
The point is that plenty of people don't follow this stuff and never heard the announcement. Even if they had, they wouldn't understand it. Chicks will go in to the store and see a pink phone and get it. End of story.
schlubadub says:
It's fine for a stranger, but I wouldn't want to recommend it to anyone I know and then have to explain why they can't get particular apps because they bought old tech... I am specifically telling people not to buy until WP8 models come out.
schlubadub says:
Also $700 is a lot to drop on a phone destined to get exactly 1 more update.
schlubadub says:
As much as I hate Apple I would also tell someone looking to buy an iphone to wait for the iphone5 as the 4 is old tech.
dalydose says:
I wouldn't buy it for my mom or anyone else at this point. Lots of those new features are going to become more popular, so why stick someone with a 2 year commitment when the next generation is but a few months away.
The OS might not be "dead", but it feels like it is abandoned and left for dead.

The same type of people who would by a Android device with gingerbread on it.

The majority of phone buyers aren't uber phone geeks. They buy a phone for what it is, not what it will become. Hot Pink and a flashy OS, what part of that doesn't scream look at me and my cool phone that you DON'T have. Fhotoroom can tell you that. That app alone has made a social network of Windows Phone owners. This is the audiance that Windows Phone has captured. The attention seekers and people that want to stand out from the rest.
Munkeyphyst says:
My wife wants it. She's been wanting "that pink phone" ever since she saw it...

There are trolls among us
Munkeyphyst says:
You calling my wife a troll?
schlubadub says:
Haha :P I'm pretty sure he was just calling himself a troll and alerting us
el.rey.del.pueblo says:
No,not even
shizz0matic23 says:
Trust me guys the OS will die soon after WP8 .. Yes it will be easy to put wp8 apps to wp7, but iam sure the will not fiction the same. Because WP8 gives devs the opportunity to have access the lockscreen and the built in voice detection. Trust me, I bought the luima 900 last month and I wish it will run forever.
MediaCastleX says:
It will run forever shizz0 =P
ahmadcrofton says:
My thoughts exactly
Bgrubb says:
Maybe this will be the first 7.8 phone? Who knows..
schlubadub says:
I thought we weren't supposed to get 7.8 until after wp8 was already released... :/

Magenta Nokia should also be available on the Magenta network: T-Mobile :( Hope T-Mobile's WP8 offerings will have a better variety than just sub 4" WP7s.
drjekel_mrhyde says:
I been saying the same damn thing
jdep1 says:
Pink would definitely represent T-Mobile logo.

Wonder if its gunna ship with tango

Anyone noticed the camera said Nokia instead of Carl Zeiss?
unstoppablekem says:
It's international. Only us version says Carl Zeiss.

I am surprised to see a magenta version. I thought the color is too much T-Mobile like to be carried by AT&T!
