mBank releases official mobile banking app for Polish Windows Phone owners

Mobile banking has continued to take off as more consumers purchase smartphones. Polish mBank (www.mbank.pl) has joined other banking establishments by releasing an official app for Windows Phone. The client enables customers to connect and login to their accounts, check balances, statements and carry out general account management.

All that's required from you to get started is your personal PIN code and full functionality will be unlocked. Balance information and available funds on cards can be viewed without logging in, but to get cracking with account management and more in-depth details requires authentication.

Much like other banking apps, mBank offers the following feature set:

  • View the history of operations and previous statements
  • Transfer funds to any recipient defined from the contacts list, phone number or other
  • View list of credit cards, details and balances
  • Live Tile support
  • ATM locator
  • Exchange rate conversion calculator

The use of Live Tiles is interesting, as one can see from the screenshots above. It's a well-designed app and we're pleased to see yet another bank join the platform. For added security, the app does not store account login information and should you be inactive for 20 minutes, the app will automatically close the session and sign you out.

You can download mBank PL from the Windows Phone Store. Thanks, Mariusz, for the tip!

We have apps: BANK PEKAO, GETIN MOBILE, IKO, INGMobile, BZWBK24,  Bank Millennium, and many more ;-)

Yes, that's true, but mBank has been a long time coming. The fact that it has finally arrived is an indication that Windows Phone is now taken seriously and the growing user base can be no longer ignored. Usually the new WP apps have only basic (or slightly limited) functionality but they catch up with iOS or Android within a few weeks or months.

Can wpc make a list of banking apps on windows phone by country (USA/europe)? I would like to use it to try and force my banks hand to make an app. In the past they used the popularity as an excuse, but I don't think that holds water anymore

Nice. Still waiting for Capital One to get off their ass and put out a WP app.

It's worth mentioning that Windows Phone has nearly 20% market share in Poland, more than iOS.

In India its growing and will grow when wp8.1 and more updates take place

r4v says:

iOS in Poland doesn't count. It's below 5% share
