Microsoft looking to tie you up with a Valentine in latest sweepstakes

Dell Venue 8

Microsoft is here to get you started with the upcoming Valentine's Day. The company has launched a sweepstake with multiple Dell prizes available. Three lucky winners will be gifted with either a Dell Venue 8 Pro tablet, Dell XPS 18 Touchscreen All-in-One or the Dell XPS 12 Touchscreen 2-in-1. Head past the break for more details and links.

The only downside to this sweepstake is that it requires you to have a Facebook account and 'like' the Microsoft Store Facebook page. If you're not a fan of the social network, feel free to sit this one out. You also have to be a resident of the US and enter before 11:59pm PT on February 14, 2014.

NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. Open only to legal residents of the 50 U.S. (+D.C.), 18+. Void where prohibited.

You guessed it right :D

It really is not an issue of overall cost,  Furhtermore,  it is also not just a Microsoft issue but related to laws of other nations = too much hoops to jump to include everyone.  Regulations and redtape that don't exist as much here between the states (well some states here do have small issues for certain items but, it easy to avoid them). For example, Canada requires following some specific rules about sweepstakes and international rules.  You will often see an additional question at the end of the entry (usually some stupid math question i.e. 5+1) to avoid the basic issue of lottery and wiiner not being luck based.   They have also other issues for things like international contests. The same goes for the EU (that's is a minefield between each countries different rules).  That being said Microsoft does have contests for other regions outside the US that citizens in the United States can't paticipate in, too.  You just happen to read about the US contests more.

All very valid, and suitably frustrating for me in the UK. I know MS have a UK site, but they have a tiny presence in terms of what they do to lure people in.

The same could be said about most countries.

Why hasn't anyone realized that Facebook is nothing more than a "narc" for the NSA? I personally can't wait for Facebook to go out the same way as MySpace.

wpguy says:

I've got a couple NSA-free Google+ accounts I can sell you. I've also got some Twitter accounts that aren't being stored in the Library of Congress, 2-for-1 sale through the end of the month.

p4nfa says:

Nope, just usa
