Mint gets some bugs squashed and LockMix gets new features in latest updates

With the holidays in full force and people returning gifts left and right, developers are still delivering updates. Case in point, two great apps both got bumps today, with one being a minor fix for bugs, while the other bringing some new features.

Let’s see what’s new.

Mint for Windows Phone 1.0.1.2462

We haven’t seen too much in the realm of Mint updates for Windows Phone, a few bug fixes here and few there. That trend is continuing with 1.0.1.2462 coming out today, which looks to be just ahead of the private beta version (2460).

In terms of features, we don’t have many at all, but at least one user is reporting that it fixes various accounts not updating. Indeed, we’ve seen some delays in information being pushed to our own app previously, so perhaps this does address some connection and syncing issues.

Regardless, you can pick up the latest version of Mint here in the Windows Phone Store. How are you folks liking Mint so far? Using it and its Windows 8.1 counterpart?

LockMix 1.3

One of our favorite Lockscreen apps for Windows Phone 8 is LockMix. The app is a widget style application, which lets you put mini-apps on your Lockscreen, that way you can see info that only you find important. What we like though is how the developer keeps finding new widgets for the app, with some being free, and some being an in-app purchase of 99 cents (they even come with a 2 week free trial).

Version 1.3 is on the Store now and it brings with it a ton of new features:

  • Special offer: Entire app will unlock after any five in-app purchases
  • Special offer: Trial period for paid widgets extended to 14 days
  • New background widget: 500px
  • New widget: Trakt TV
  • New widget: Picture
  • Experimental HD support for GDR3 phones (can be turned on in the screen settings if your phone has HD and GDR3)
  • Last update time color is now customizable
  • Less data transfer for servers supporting gzip

All of those additions sound really good. Trakt TV lets you see your upcoming shows, while the 500px widget shows some HQ images. We’re rocking the HD support, though we haven’t noticed that much of a difference. We also like how if you spend $5 on the optional in-app purchases, you get everything for free—seems fair.

Of course widgets like Picture, Bing Image, Image rotation, Battery, Calendar, Weather, Phone Owner, etc. are still free, so there’s plenty to like and use in this app without spending a dime.

Pick up LockMix 1.3 here in the Store if you’re looking to spruce up your device. We recommend it.

I like Mint but I think Check is better. Just wish it had better support. I like that Mint can break down spending habits

I like check a lot too, or as we know it, Pageonce

I thought Mint was going to be my go to app for money management. Once I started using it, I found out you can't keep track of your PG&E, Macy's, discover card, and several other accounts like PageOnce does. What a heart break. I waited all that time and didn't realize it until a couple of weeks ago. Mobilligy let's you do pretty much everything pageonce does, but my credit union needs 13 more people to sign into it in order for Mobilligy to support it. :-( In other words, I still don't have the ideal money app. Pageonce can win me back if they decide to update their slow as molasses app.

So does anyone else have issue where Mint keeps asking to enter bank info again. It does it ever so often even though my info is up to date

Cormango says:

I found Lockmix drained my battery. Not sure why. Anyone else have that issue?

lamiq says:

Background tasks run every 30min for 25 seconds. It should not have a major impact on the battery. Problem could be probably with your GPS chip. Try to set a static position in all widgets you are using (or use global settings for location) so the GPS wont be used at all.
