National Rail Enquiries for Windows 8 updated, improves interactive mapping

National Rail Enquiries

The official National Rail Enquiries app for Windows 8 has been updated. The app was previously bumped to include numerous new features that consumers could take advantage of. The change log remains the same on the store listing, so we can only speculate that this latest release is a minor update to fix some bugs and implement improvements.

Here's what was added in the previous release:

  • Live tiles for stations showing the next three departures, arrivals and disruptions.
  • Live tiles for journey tracking showing disruptions.

  • Station Maps – now you can view any station and explore the surrounding area, with Bing Maps integration.

We noticed some problems with Live Tiles, as well as the maps and have read reviews on the store from users who have experienced the same issues. These have now been fixed and the mapping has been improved with an aerial view. If you've noticed something we've overlooked, be sure to hit us up in the comments.

You can download National Rail Enquiries from the Windows Store for free.

Wish India had an official railway app. :(

Welcome to the Chattanooga Choo Choo.

This is a great app and I've been using it ever since my Surface arrived, it remembers the stations you use, updates in case of problems and uses the location to auto populate nearby stations.
