New AT&T Nokia Lumia 1020 ad highlights the "zoom later" feature

There's a new AT&T Nokia Lumia 1020 commercial making the rounds that highlights the Lumia 1020's "zoom later" camera feature.

The thirty second spot demonstrates how the Nokia Pro Cam app on the Lumia 1020 can capture an image in full resolution and let you zoom in to your shot after you’ve taken it. Then rotate, re-frame, crop and share new images as many times as you want.

If you've gotten your hands on the Lumia 1020, let us know what you think of the "zoom later" feature.

AT&T usually has the lamest uncreative ads out there but that was okay.

mjfadaway says:

You are so right

Hey Rodney I just saw The Wolverine in theaters and it had 2 Nokia Lumia 800s in it. http://nokiarevolution.com/2013/06/18/nokia-lumia-spotted-on-the-latest-...

PepsimanLeh says:

Its a great ads imo! Clearly shows what the 1020 is good at.

aaa6112 says:

Is this an online-only ad or are they airing this on the TV?

jsnod25 says:

Doesn't work on Lumia 920... Sad for a Lumia ad on AT&T network. First time in many months I've had this problem

sholokov says:

What doesn't work?

jsnod25 says:

The video viewed from the app. Only gives the option for browser or YouTube app, but no native like others. Either way, can't watch it on my phone.

Ed Boland says:

Didn't have any problem watching the ad on my 920.. Just selected the YouTube app and it played...

toyotast165 says:

Same here worked fine, also tried metrotube, again worked perfect... Got to be oe

Didn't work for me either on my 920. Tried both the YouTube app and metrotube...no go.

Bartdog says:

I tried metrotube, YouTube, and finally the browser option. When I tried the browser, I finally got an error message from goog. It said it looks like your network or computer is sending automated queries and it's being blocked to protect our customers. (paraphrased)

jsnod25 says:

Mine just says its not available for my device

jsnod25 says:

It worked on the YouTube app though, I just never use it, so I didn't even bother to try.

PhilR8 says:

Worked fine in Metrotube on my at&t 920.

MethodGT says:

Worked for my 920 with MyTube

I watched it fine through the YouTube app on my Ativ S...

glassadam says:

Didn't work for me on my 920, either. YouTube app (metrotube) led to a page that was basically blank, as in video and info/description weren't there at all. Browser just led to the "we're sorry....automated query" message page from Google." If this is the kind of stuff we can expect because of the goog/MS beef, then all they're doi g is hurting consumers.

pkyyro says:

Worked fine with browser and Metrotube. It's nice that Ms/Nokia are concentrading on camera goodies but on next lumia model they should make an ad where example offline maps or wireless charging acts mainrole. Lumias have many things which are cool to use but regular smartphone users doesnt know that.

mowinemdown says:

I've seen it on tv a few times. Pretty cool

rodneyej says:

Where do ya live❔

Micah Dawson says:

Not bad at all.

rodneyej says:

I agree.. Its good.. Not great, but if they air the $hit out of it that would be awesome❕

rodneyej says:

We need more, more, more, more❕❕❕❕

dalascby says:

I don't know, it's Ok but it still looks like just one of the pack of phone commercials out there.  All involved, AT&T and especially Nokia & Microsoft need to make a much bigger deal out of this phone than what that commercial does.   I'd like to see an ad with professional photographers from well know magazines using and "explaining" why this device is something special.  This phone demands more than just the typical phone ad.

rodneyej says:

They say this is supposed to be the largest marketing push ever by Microkia, and at&t.. This is the beginning, although a little late IMO, so lets wait and see what they can do... Or don't do.

Xpider_MX says:

It is never too late

Even if I say! it'll be alright!

PepsimanLeh says:

Better late than never.

latempete says:

Well, finally some review sites are starting to give Windows Phones decent to good reviews. That was a major sticking point. I know people who would see the commercials but then hear people who maybe read reviews, some full of errors or erroneous"facts", check reviews themselves or just see all the "Microsoft drops the ball again" type headlines and not even give the phones a chance. The marketing was weak (Don't get me started on dancing with a Surface Pro) but at least now people might believe the adds and give Microsoft and Nokia especially, who have always been known for quality, a chance.

indieimprint says:

Not a bad advertisement. Question: where are the photos saved after you zoom/edit?? I can only find the original unedited versions saved on my phone.

venom121584 says:

Once you edit, you have to save then save a second time. Once you do that they are saved in your folder next to camera roll... It took me a little while to figure that out (and after some unsaved good edited pictures...):(

I played with it yesterday and it felt a little complicated. I wish I could've taken it home and played with the settings a little more. I want it in red...
I think this is my excuse for not getting the phone since I can't upgrade :/

It's okay. I rather see bus advertisements, blimp advertisements, newspaper, billboards, YouTube ads, Facebook ads, show sponsors and the works. In a world where most people skip commercials, this ain't ####. Don't mind me I just woke up!

NASCAR and F1 sponsored by the Nokia Lumia 1020: Zoom Reinvented

dalascby says:

I'm sure that all of those things will be there, but even those become like white noise after a while. It's probably easier to avoid those things than TV ads.  TV ads are still king for reaching a critical mass of people.  I hate internet ads, I don't think I've "ever" clicked on one.

simphf says:

I use a verity of methods to keep them off my computer.

TechnoTim says:

I think they should feature "un zoom later". When I show people that with my 1020 they are wowed.

CJ Thunder says:

Ditto, backing out makes people poop their pants.

Cellus13 says:

lol. They feature a couple of 920 users feeling jealous of the 1020 user. Is that a good thing to put in a commercial? It's a good commercial but i feel At&t shouldn't have used other 920's in the ad.

rodneyej says:

Looks like a 900.. You sure it's a 920❔I know that's besides the point... LOL❕

Could be just friends who own Lumias that received a text from a friend. They seem to be jealous because they "think" she has front row seats unaware that she actually took a photo from a far. Don't read too much into it guys... You'll hurt your head

Xpider_MX says:

That's right, they are jealous because the artist in the pic, not because the zoomed capabilities.

antsmarchin says:

Good choice for the band! (I know the drummer)

rodneyej says:

Well, isn't that special..

You know what's more pathetic than a pathetic comment? Someone who feels the need to write a witty remark about it. Here's a shiny, shiny medal for you, Rodney.

Capsloc says:

Well thank you for rewarding his witty remark. I want a medal too though.

birdman_38 says:

What's the name of the band?

I wonder what they'll have those kids in the class room doing with the 1020? ...hmmm

SleepyTheDon says:

Zoom in cheat later feature

MDak280 says:

The ad is ok but it could be much better. Hoping they air this a lot and get better ads out there!

Clavitox says:

They're promoting telling lies? Lol jk

Hope you guys notice the 920 with Instance in the ad.

serdard says:

Lumia series are not powerful devices. No quad core, no brillant display, no much more ram, no big battery capasity moreover they are bulky.

erichon99 says:

While specs had never been a differentiating factor from a user experience standpoint, I personally would wait for a quad core 1020 version

SleepyTheDon says:

That's the beauty of the OS. It doesn't NEED quad core to run anything smoothly or more quickly

May the door hit you on the way out

wolferpac says:

Duffau says:

The more you guys feed the trolls, the more they return.

Cellus13 says:

Go back to engadget.

jjmurphy says:

Had my class reunion last night. I used this feature and thought that it would be a great selling point.

SleepyTheDon says:

At least AT&T is advertising the 1020. You can't pay T-Mobile to push the 925, WTF?

ade333 says:

The problem is that Apple started a vicious trend where they gave advertising money to anyone who gave their products good reviews. There was an extremely high monetary reward for good headlines, and therefore a cost for negativity. MS is now facing an army of blogs, websites, magazines, etc that think they DESERVE to be paid off in the same way.

simpkijd says:

I vote AT&T and Nokia save their advertising money and invest in training for their. I bought my 1020 in store on Friday, the sales guy was clueless regarding the camera grip and charging backplate at the store. It was the first 1020 the sold all day and it was 630pm on launch day..... Saturday went to another AT&T store to ask about a charging backplate.... The guy had no idea AT&T had released the 1020 and asked me if the a charging back plate from a L920 would work. I informed him the 920 had wireless charging built in...... Good Grief.

Mike A4 says:

yes many of the at&t reps are clueless, my friend went to the store yesterday and one of the reps didnt even know the 1020 was on diaplay. this is the reason why this phone will be a massive FAIL in the U.S. I own a lumia 920 and would like to see the 1020 succeed but sadly it wont because of no desire to push sales by at&t reps. (period)

Freakin reps... How can a person willingly be that bad at their job?!

vinchjkt says:

Nokia Lumia 1020 off to a great start, already sold out at AT&T

ltjordan24 says:

Very nice. If that doesn't move devices, I don't know what will.

stephen_az says:

....a gimmick feature that mimics gimmick features on other platformsand really is nothing more than a basic editing capability. Well that ranks up there with a 41 MP camera that clearly does not actually produce 41 MP images. All you need to do is look at exif data and native file sizes to see that fact. Nokia sheep are no different than Apple sheep - just a smaller but equally gullible herd.

Dat1Dude562 says:

Do you want a waffle?

Spedez says:

Sure thing Stephen Ass.

Dare2Blink says:

Are you an idiot? Do you not know that the phone does indeed produce 38 or 35 megapixel pictures depending on the aspect ratio you choose? Investigate next time before you decide to embarrass yourself.

vinchjkt says:

android trolls are everywhere.. why they are that much jealousy?? like this article:

venu238 says:

Have you people seen Nokia black Lumia phone in "The Canyons" trailer?

Duffau says:

I am unable to access the video in any way from the app on my HD7. Stupid google keeps pushing me to the full site and tells me I have to have flash. On Gmail the assholes push me to the terrible mobile site. I hate google so much!
