Nextgen Reader updated to version 3.1 with new features

Nextgen Reader

Nextgen Reader, an RSS app for Windows Phone, has been updated to version 3.1, which introduces a number of features, bug fixes, and enhancements. The app enables users to keep up-to-date with favourite sources of information, with support for Google Reader.

The app was previously bumped to version 3.0 back in May, adding a new tutorial to get users started who may not be familiar with the app. So what's new in 3.1? Smarter article viewing is available for when viewing articles with a view button present to turn the content mobile-friendly.

  • Smarter article view i.e. share/save/email/mobilise current opened link instead of original article.
  • Dynamic subscriptions hub with featured section to find latest and popular feeds.
  • Tap and hold to edit/pin/delete a subscription from main page.
  • Pin to start (live tile) experience.
  • Improved sharing on Facebook with embedded links.
  • Always use HTTPS for sync. as default
  • Fixed always sort starred items by newest first.

Best RSS reader for Windows Phone! Love it.

Does this allow for the addition of feeds without having a Google Reader account?  I feel like most of the readers require a GR account which I don't have and really don't want.  I've been using Weave since January which is OK but there hasn't been a single update to it which makes me wonder if it's still being developed.

You should try rss central if you don't want to be tied down to a gr account.

I looked at RSS Central but didn't really like the layout.  I've downloaded Zite but actually haven't used it yet.  I thought that was only a news app that you couldn't add feeds to.

This is one of the few apps I bought. Great reader, devs are responsive.

3.1 update is not showing in the Market. Still showing 3.0?

ngreader says:

It is now available. :)

My go-to RSS reader, would be perfect with background article loading.
