Nextgen+ ROM hits version 2.0 for the HD7

Nexgen+ 2.0

If you fancy yourself a custom ROM, you may want to take a peek at the latest version of Nextgen+ which just received a nice little makeover. We covered the previous release here, noting that it offered some very interesting additions, including a stripped down core and new color emoticons for things like messaging and system icons. Version 2.0 looks to go even further and is now available in 'lite' or 'full':

  • Windows Phone 7.5 (Build 7740.16)
  • MultiLanguage (in Full Version)
  • High Speed
  • Full-Unlocked
  • Installing *.xap from IE
  • The easy, optimized and modified ROM
  • New exclusive iconpack
  • OEM apps, Wallpapers, ringtones, sounds from Nokia Lumia 710 / 800
  • Internet Sharing
  • Visual Studio Debugging
  • Colored Themes
  • New, great wallpapers, pictures, sounds
  • Some minor reg Tweaks
  • OEM apps from HTC Omega / Eternity

Nexgen+ 2.0

Not a bad set of features, in fact we may have to fire up our HD7 and throw this on there to see how it performs. Plus you can expect some excellent battery life and the usual speed improvements, which is great for that Gen1 hardware.

Nextgen+ ROM hits version 2.0 for the HD7

Putting aside that having loads of colourful icons seems to make Windows Phone 7 look almost too busy, this nextGen mod is looking pretty good! Incredible work from the devs it's making me want to try the ROM out...

Those icons are horrible and look out of place. MS knew what they were doing. Don't mess with a good thing.

Agreed, those icons look horid. Hopefully they'll offer a version that hasn't had the look of the OS modified...

I have version 1.8 running on my hd7 now and think it's great aside from still having the keyboard bug and apps like wpcentral, IE and Facebook 'jumping' around when I scroll but my hd7 has been doing this even on a stock rom. Just might flash this rom to see if it fixes tho issues. On a side note I've tried to load xaps via IE but it didn't work for me. Oh well, not that big of a deal since I only flashed this rom so my hd7 would work after I got the 'black screen of death' about a month or so ago.

This does seem to lock the phone into a whole different look. I don't think I like this look. One of the reasons to us a custom ROM is the flexibilty. Hopefully he can put in the option in to use the stock icons.

What I mean by 'black screen of death' is my phone randomly restarted one day and stayed on the boot up screen for about 15 minutes so I pulled the battery due to it getting hot as well as not completing the boot up process. When I turned it on the phone booted up and only show the battery, WiFi and signal meters with no signs of my beloved live tiles, only a black screen. Hence the term 'black screen of death'. After looking on xda and searching google I found now answers. I even sat on the phone with t-mobile for about 45 minutes with no help in sight... So I flash the NextGen+ 1.8 rom and got my beloved live tiles back.

The End :)
