Nokia Lumia 1020 available to pre-order at Telecom New Zealand for September 26 release

You can pre-order the Nokia Lumia 1020 at Telecom New Zealand for 149

Telecom New Zealand looks to be the first mobile carrier on the island nation to be taking pre-orders for the Nokia Lumia 1020. Despite earlier rumors that the Lumia 1020 would be priced at $1299 outright, it will in fact only run you $1149. You can also opt for different contract lengths to knock the upfront cost down to as low as $149.

The Nokia Lumia 1020 is available from Telecom New Zealand in either black or yellow and comes with free shipping. New lines of service also require a $5 SIM fee. All phones will be delivered within 3-5 days of the September 26 release date.

You can follow the source link to get to the order page with complete details.

Just yesterday we reported that Windows Phone has jumped to 15% market share in New Zealand. Having the Lumia 1020 on hand should continue that trend.

The price in other countries make the whining about price from US customers sound petty :D

New Zealand has the Consumer Guarantees Act. This means that manufacturer warranty lengths mean nothing. 1 year warranty on a handset when you've signed a 2 year contract? No. Minimum of 2 years thanks. More for high end flagship devices. The only way for manufacturers to service these warrantees is to increase prices here. There is no "extended warranty" you can get upsold on, that the Consumer Guarantees Act doesn't already afford you.

Grats New Zealand

I'm really happy about how Telecom and Vodafone have been really supportive of the new Windows Phones - Vodafone getting the 925 and 625, and Telecom getting the 1020. It's great to see carriers here putting faith in WP

personally I think its shit that Nokia are dvidiing their devices between carriers. I want the 1020 on Vodafone & its likely that will never happen. We will probably have to wait 6 months before Vodafone pull their finger out & get the next high end model released. The time they delay the new models is frankly archaic in this day & age of fast release cycles. The 1020 had only been available on Telecom for 3 weeks before Nokia announced the 1520! NZ Carriers are underperforming big time outside of iPhone release cycles
