If you have $900 to spare and really want that AT&T compatible Lumia 800 bundle (which also includes the Purity HD headphones, Luna Bluetooth headset and Play 360°), you don't have to have to travel to a physical Microsoft Store as you can now order it online and direct from Microsoft (save some tax money too).
The package, though seemingly expensive at first glance, is actually not a bad deal considering what you are getting:
Of course while we really like the Lumia 800 we can't help but think the 900 coming to AT&T in just a few weeks might not be a better deal what with 4G LTE, a front-facing camera and a 4.3" screen. But hey, we also know some of you really like and want this phone and not everyone wants 4.3" inches of glory--so for you folks, we present you this offer. Slap down your credit cards and treat yourself or a loved one.

Why isn't this available as stand-alone? All of the bundled accessories are lame... It should be around $700 outright
Well,
You are asking a question that no one here can likely answer. There are a lot of us that want this phone. Without the other goodies.
My take on this is this is the only way Nokia can get this phone to us with US 3G specs. They likely have some agreements with the US carriers prohibiting them from marketing unlocked phones in this market. I believe that was the cause of Nokia getting pushed out of the US market in the first place.
Best advise. Keep an eye out for discount coupons at the MS Store. This bundle will also likely be reduced if it does not sell.
Personally, I'm hoping they get the white model in stock with both the 850 and 1900 bands.
Some people are just very ungrateful. Now we need that idiotic Luna comment again
There is an unlocked Lumia 800 available from a seller for $499 on Amazon.

Nokia knows that they will move some bundles, but not a massive quantity of them. And given that the price is going to be cost prohibitive for some, they already know that these are not going to be flying off of the shelves.
My guess is that this bundle offer is simply a luanch pad - they introduce the Lumia 800 with Nokia assessories (which, by the way, you cannot order from the Nokia USA website), guage interest, then release release the Lumia 800, and perhaps (depending on bundle sales and interest) make the assessories available for purchase as standalone items.
I really don't think that this is going to be the only way folks will be able to obtain a Lumia 800 in the U.S. outside of going through Amazon. This is simply an 'early bird' special and a mini launch/introduction. I'd wager that the Lumia 800 will be available through Microsoft stores AFTER the launch of the Lumia 900, so only a about a month or so to go.
Y no cyan!!!!!!!!!!!
If anyone is interested in getting me this as a gift I would be willing to take it.
