The Finnish manufacturer has however published the terms and conditions, which reveal exactly what will be on offer and who will be eligible for said free gear. Those who purchase either the Lumia 920 or Lumia 820 through Phones4u will be able to claim a free wireless charging plate.

Windows Phone 8 continues to provide us with new devices. While much attention has been given over to the Lumia 920, the 820 has some compelling features and specs that should appeal to many. Sharing some key specifications with the higher end Windows Phone 8 devices along with options for wireless charging and expandable storage it’s certainly worth a look.

I have been using one for a few hours and so would quickly like to share my thoughts on it before it gets a full review. Read on to see and hear more..

In one of the more creative offerings we have seen to get people to buy new Windows Phone 8 handsets, we like this one from Carphone Warehouse.  By simply purchasing a Nokia Lumia 820 you qualify for a free upgrade to Windows 8 Pro on your PC. (Unfortunately, Phones4U have an exclusive on the 920).That reinforces the notion that Microsoft (and their partners) are really pushing the idea that the desktop OS and phone are companions.

Fans of Microsoft's mobile OS for years have clamored for such a marketing campaign and now it looks to finally be happening. Thanks, Louis B, for the photo!

For some odd reason Amazon Wireless is not yet aboard the Lumia 920 train but Walmart sure is, as they have put the device on sale on their site. What's more, they have even undercut AT&T by selling the device for $50 cheaper at just $49.99 on a two-year contract. That's one heck of a deal if you're looking to jump in on what we consider to be the best Windows Phone around.

The off-contract price is still at an over-inflated $699, so there is no deal there. Colors are cyan, white, black and red with yellow noticeably absent. In addition if you look closely, they have the 820's image instead of the 920 for the black version. Whoops!

And if you're into the Lumia 820 that of course has been dropped from AT&T's $49 price to just $0 on a two-year contract.

Head to Walmart to check for your regional availability. Thanks, Vishnu S, for the heads up!

Today's launch of the AT&T Windows Phone 8 devices was sure to draw lines at some stores. Dare I say it was a perfect storm type event with the launch of the Nokia Lumia 920, Lumia 820 and HTC 8X on the same day?

Readers are reporting a mixed bag with some stores not having any of the new phones in stock to stores with plenty Lumia's in stock but no 8X's.  WPCentral reader, Jignesh, sent us the above picture from the AT&T Store at Irving, Texas of customers lining up to buy the new Windows Phones.
