More coverage

Nokia’s Italy contingent announced not too long ago that the Lumia 920 will be available for pre-order at the €599 price point and coming in November.

While we still don’t have a firm release date to add to that, we can now direct you to NStore.it, which we’re told is the official Nokia online store for that country. For a deposit of €99, you can reserve your own 920, but only in white or black (insert sad trombone).

We’re not sure if that’s a better deal than what you can get through your carrier (H3G, Telecom Italia, Vodafone or Wind) but if unlocked an non-hassle is your thing, then you may want to give it some consideration.

You can head over to NStore.it’s dedicated pre-order page to get the ball rolling. Thanks, Mirko S., for the tip

With yesterday’s announcement of the Nokia Lumia 820 and 920 coming to AT&T, the word that caught our eye and yours was “exclusive”. Even Rogers is now in on the "exclusive" action. The term was applied to both Lumia devices, although as pointed out in our forums, the 820’s exclusiveness to AT&T was dropped from Nokia’s site later in the day.

The tech’o’sphere has responded quite negatively to the news if only because the Lumia 920 has built up such demand that many people are cheering for its success. That success though depends on how many people can actually buy it, which in turn translates into carrier availability. If the Lumia 920 is only available on 1 of 4 major US carriers, well that’s certainly less people than had it been on two or three carriers. A pretty obvious impact.

The good news is Nokia is finally getting some details out about its highly touted Lumia 920, specifically carrier deals. The bad news is they are couched in exclusivity deals (we’ll have more on that shortly).

Such is the case with Rogers in Canada who have announced that the Lumia 920 will be coming to the carrier with 4G LTE in November.

We’ve seen the numerous “shake” tests of the Lumia 920’s PureView camera and this one is no different, (and we have to admit that the Nokia staff are getting very adept at phone jostling).

In the video above you can see the camera being shaking quite vigorously with the resulting image in the LCD also wiggling. But as soon as that shutter button is pressed halfway engaging the optical-image stabilization (OIS), the image steadies itself instantly.

The whole notion of wrapping the camera mechanism with mini-springs and managing to squeeze that into a phone is quite an achievement from Nokia. Of course, we can’t wait to get it in our hands to give it a go because that camera is the real deal.

As you may have heard, AT&T today announced the Nokia Lumia 920 coming “in November” to the carrier. The phone will feature numerous colors including matte-black, yellow, red, white and of course cyan.

We know many of you have been wondering if the cyan is glossy or matte and the answer is the latter. Yup, it’s the same type of finish at the Lumia 800 and Lumia 900.

We’ll process some photos in a bit of our hands on but we will say this: the Lumia 920 did not at all feel too big or heavy. In fact, we barely noticed it. Our conclusion is that a lot of the concern over the size of the phone is completely unwarranted. In fact, with the smooth roundness of the back and the curved screen, we like it better than the current 900 design, which feels blocky by comparison.

Which Lumia 920 would you choose?

The Lumia 920 is Nokia's flagship Windows Phone, and is the most advanced smartphone running Microsoft's mobile operating system to-date. Sporting PureView technology, a 4.5" display with PureMotion+ HD goodness, dual-core chip, and wireless charging, it's a powerful device.

Not only that, the Lumia 920 comes in a variety of colours (depending on availability in markets). But which colour would you choose?

Will only AT&T have the 920 in the US?

In today’s press release from AT&T making the Nokia Lumia 820 and 920 official, the word “exclusive” unfortunately was tossed in to the mix raising some red flags.

When addressing the Lumia 920 specifically it was used in this context:

“Exclusive to our customers and featuring unique innovations…the Lumia 920 will be one of the hottest phones for the holidays,”

To us that sounds like AT&T has managed to make a deal with Nokia to be the only carrier offering the flagship phone. While the Lumia 820 has been expected to go to T-Mobile and even Verizon, the 920 was always a toss up. Many people have been hoping big Red would finally get a top of the line Nokia Windows Phone. In fact, an earlier report from PhoneArena strongly suggested that to be the case.

Well  hello there, what's your number?

This morning as expected, AT&T formally announced the Nokia Lumia 820 and 920 are headed for the carrier “in November”. No pricing or exact release dates were given.

But there was a nice little surprise with the Lumia 920 reveal: it comes in Cyan.

Many people were shocked that when Nokia revealed the 920 that the prominent color was AWOL from the lineup. The only variations shown were yellow, red, white, matte grey and black and in fact, the Nokia website reflects that offering.

Cyan though had become the unofficial-official color of the Lumia series from Nokia and to have it missing from the 920 seemed like an odd omission. We pointed out earlier the influence of the color on Microsoft's own designs too.

The other day we reported that Nokia may be prohibiting carriers from branding the new Lumia Windows Phones with their company logos. Instead, preferring that carriers use virtual branding through preloaded software or software hubs.

Several Italian carriers are reportedly preparing to offer the new Lumia Windows Phones without logo branding. As we mentioned previously, the overseas carrier influence is a little more passive that what we experience here in the States. We weren't sure if this logo ban would extend to AT&T, Verizon or T-Mobile until this morning.

We've heard rumors, speculation and murmurs about AT&T announcing the addition of the Nokia Lumia 920 Windows Phone to their lineup and now it's official. As an added bonus, AT&T also announced that the Lumia 820 will also be part of the wireless provider's Windows Phone lineup.

The Lumia 920 will be available in red, white, black, yellow and cyan (yes, cyan). The Lumia 820 will be available in black. Both the 920 and 820 will be 4G LTE compatible and are planned to be available in November. There was no mention of pricing in the press release.
