Nokia Lumia 900 to arrive on March 18?

Lumia 900 to hit shelves March 18?

Since Nokia unveiled the Lumia 900 (Ace) at CES on Monday, people have been salivating and waiting eagerly to hear when it would be available to the masses.  Sadly, the only tidbit anyone got was that it would hit shelves in the next few months.  Thanks to Mary Jo Foley and Paul Thurrott, who hosted an episode of TWiT together, we may now know that the exact date will be March 18.  The two techies discussed the latest issue of Nokia's developers news letter, in which a March release on AT&T was listed.  Although no source was given, Thurrott added that it would in fact be March 18.

The Lumia 900 was a hit at CES, and we were more than pleased with our first look at it.  Even if the March 18 release date turns out to be inaccurate, its still exciting to know that the Ace is coming fairly soon.

Fantastic. Any word on when the 800 will be available through MS?

Los says:

I hope they keep the Lumia name

Pete C says:'s a great name and it could be a global brand like the iPhone. The Ace is just not as original.

That had been rumored earlier (pre-CES). However, the 18th is a Sunday. That seems like an uncommon launch day, so I'm a little skeptical. Anyways, the sooner, the better.

jtn05 says:

Did'nt the focus s and titan come out on a sunday?

All of AT&T's recent Windows Phone releases have been on a Sunday.  All the way back to the Focus.

Rob41664 says:

The manager at my local AT&T corporate store said the launches for their phones are on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month. So the 18th seems likely to me.

venom5150 says:

The HTC Arrive came out on 03/20/2011 which was a Sunday.  I remember, I was on vacation and went out of my way to get it.

erichon99 says:

so 3/18 it is...9:00am (get it?)

Curtieson says:

0900 Military Time...

1jaxstate1 says:

Sunday is when they release new devices.

Mestiphal says:

I have a question I've never seen mentioned before.  at points the windows phones can lock up to the point where you need to remove the battery.
if something that happens to the Lumias what do you do?  you have to drive all the way to the AT&T store?

z33dev33l says:

I literally have every U.S released WP7 GSM device as well as an 800. None have needed a battery pull and few have ever needed to be reset.

Nataku4ca says:

if it ever locks up (unlikely, or at least hopefully never), Nokia phones have 3 finger salute for those situations, exact way of doing it? i... dont know... i just read about it and forgot how

Justin.TV312 says:

Have u even used a WP? I've never ever seen a lockup on my HD7 or my radar. My sis' iPod touch Gen 4 has locked up quite a bit already.

Narr says:

I get them occasionally on my LG Optimus 7, sometimes it's connected to bluetooth so if I turn the bluetooth headset off it comes back. Once or twice it's just been the device and I need to pull the battery. Nothing ever on my Titan though.

Nimdock says:

That's the date I pay my ETF with Sprint and move over to At&T. :D
ALthough the Titan II looks interesting too... Hummm...

jaybee says:

Same with me, minus the ETF. I'm out of contract starting on 1/25, and the timing will coincide nicely with the end of the billing cycle.

invertme says:

When you leave make sure you say it's because of the lack of WP devices.

aliencatos says:

I can't wait....

ChrisLynch says:

I love my Samsung Focus S (even though it has it's audio issues), but I cannot wait for the Lumia 900.  I can't wait for that phone, and in Cyan! I hope they release the 800 and 900 in other colors here in the US.

DavidinCT says:

I can't wait for Verizon to get one...

jfa1 says:

I am still hoping for the deep red in  the renders  if not it might be cyan  and it might be black.  Black's what I am used to  but a change may be in the winds!

That render was a fake. As the actual device does not look like that. The fact that there is no red 900 should also serve as evidence.

There's a reason why we don't run certain stories here.

Would have been a nice color, though.

jfa1 says:

I wonder when pre orders will open?

willdoors says:

the biggest microsoft mistake, 'showing things sooo before time of release' .... then the competition guys release the same thing or better before microsoft (now nokia doing the same).... I can bet apple iphone 5 will arrive march 17!
