Orée Pebble 2 is a beautiful natural material Qi charger looking for Kickstarter backers

Orée Pebble 2 Qi charger

For those who want to add a little bit of luxury to their smartphone, Orée has created a wireless charging block that's fashioned out of a single block of wood or marble and integrates a speaker and microphone for speakerphone calls. For a Kickstarter pledge starting at $200, the Orée Pebble 2 is an elegantly designed cylinder that sits on your desk and bedside stand so you can merely set a smartphone with Qi wireless charging technology on top of the Pebble 2 and it will begin charging without requiring any wires.

The Orée Pebble 2 will work with a number of Nokia Lumia smartphones, Google's Nexus 5 and 7, and any smartphone with a Qi-compatible wireless charging case, cover, or shell including Samsung's Galaxy S4, Galaxy S5 and Galaxy Note 3 and even an iPhone. From Orée:

"Orée Pebble 2 is artisanally crafted from a single block of Carrare white marble, French walnut or tilia. These premium natural materials adorned by a timeless minimalist design give the Pebble 2 its distinctive halo that will enhance any elegant table or desk."

For sound output, there is an embedded 5W speaker inside the marble or wood Pebble 2 as well as an omnidirectional microphone for speakerphone calls that also has noise cancellation.

Orée Pebble 2 Qi charger kickstart

The $200 starting pledge on Kickstarter will net you an audio-only version of the Pebble 2, meaning you won't get a version with wireless charging. For a starting pledge of $225, you'll get a Pebble 2 with both the speaker and the wireless charging built into the base. For the iPhone, if you don't already have a Qi-compatible wireless charging case, a $315 pledge will get you a Pebble 2 along with Orée's iPhone charging sleeve fashioned out of leather. At each level you can add $50 to jump up to a marble version of the charger.

As with all Kickstarter campaigns, this is a pledge and not a purchase where a product is guaranteed to be delivered; unsuccessful campaigns may not result in shipping products. But if you think they've got what it takes to bring this to market, now's the time to get in on the campaign — you can check it out at the source link below.

I would so do this. Unfortunately its att that is holding me back from supporting this. There lack of qi support is killing me slowly.

No I have a 920 currently but my once my upgrade is here will my next phone have qi? I'm not investing that much money for a charger I can't use. Because I want it built in like my 920. Not buy some case I don't like or want.

The Pebble 2 is not only a wireless charger but a Bluetooth Speaker that can be used for voice calls. It might just be worth it in case your next phone does have wireless charging. Even if it doesn't it's a nice looking speaker.

As a carrier free phone user I do not really understand how a carrier can prevent one from using a function that for my understanding is already in the hardware like Qi support; which is in all Lumia phones.

So how is your carrier preventing you from using it? I really do not get this.

Because in America, att the carrier that is has had the qi hardware removed from all the newer Lumia phones since they punked out and went with pma. Most people in America go carrier locked because we don't get a discount on plans if we buy our phones out right. So we opt for the discounted phone. Which in the end screws us consumers over anyways.

Well, that truly sucks. I feel with you guys. I hope for you that there are some laws made to prevent such a bullshit in the future.

At least they don't force you to pay up more money after your contact is over to unlock your phone. Even though the service fees are already high

Insane pricing. I feel like all of the wireless chargers are overpriced, though. At least if you are not getting those deals in the US

Yeah, over two hundy for a charging rock. Who the f%&k would pay that? I can think of much better ways of spending my hard earned money.

But it's "artisanly crafted!" hahaha. Making up new words ain't gonna get me to fork over cash, sorry...

I agree the price is high, but in this case it might not be 'overpriced' since it is made in France and it's hand made. It's not like it's a mass production operation in China.

But still I would have to be rolling in money before spending that much on a charger. It's probably aimed as a luxury item for the rich, anyway.

Its happening in Canada aswell no retailer has them here. Guess we can blame palms overpriced touchstoned for that & bad timing for the 1st gen powermat with its addon packs that arent sold anymore ie nds

Reasons to stick with your Lumia 920 a bit longer. AT&T - altering technology & torture. Verizon customers don't have to worry, they can use the product...

My guess would be: paying worker 10 euro per hour, let's say one unit at leasurely pace takes 12 hours thats 120 eur so thats $165 then add to that the cost of materials, if the thing is made from a single piece of high quality wood, that is not cheap either, plus the cost of the electronic components, plus shipping costs, plus Tax, and you are easily at $250. Also don't forget they also want to make some profit, so.....

The headline is comical. I can turn out a chunk of wood in a lathe for one USD and make a profit. A round slug of wood or marble is not elegant. Kickstarter is for azz clowns. Get a patent and some legit backing and you have a decent product.

The speaker and microphone seem redundant because your phone is right there on top of it, with its own speaker and microphone...

In India we are getting the phones battery charged through BTS...means mobile good is that ..u don't even have put the phone to charge.....just get it at a coverage area and its charged....wave charging battery...
