Red Lumia 720 variant to be exclusively available at O2 UK

Lumia 720

We're already aware of O2 UK preparing to launch the Lumia 720. Being the premium Windows Phone partner, the mobile operator has also managed to bag the red variant of the Nokia device, according to its website. It's expected to arrive in O2 stores (and online) next month. As well as the red version, the black Lumia 720 will also be stocked.

To quickly recap on what to expect from the Lumia 720, the Nokia smartphone sports a 4.3-inch IPS display (480x800), 1GHz dual-core chip, with 8GB internal storage (SD support included) and 512MB RAM. The added bonus with the 720 is the front-facing camera. This 1.3MP shooter joins the 6.7MP main camera on the rear of the device.

Don't forget the raison d'être for this phone is relatively thin (9mm), relatively light (128g) and inexpensive.

Tim Wakeling says:

"Premium partner"? You mean O2 - the network that didn't even announce the Lumia 920 until February, four months late, and which to this day stocks the Lumia range in black only? Hardly what I'd call "premium". Still, I paid upfront for the 920 in order to have it on O2, because despite their poor attitude towards Windows Phone, they're still a good network. :)

nickengineer says:

2nd that. O2... Rubbish. Not as bad as EE mind, who do have some claim to the title.

Jamdot says:

So the blue & white colored network gets exclusivity on red?

Sean Burns1 says:

Why can't it be ThreeUK?? O2 offer crap data allowances

afgzee says:

worst 3g network in the UK according to the network regulator ofcom, most over priced and the only network to limit data to 1GB per month, also the only network to have several major countrywide downtimes last year lasting several days. nothing would ever let to move to o2

namikral says:

this 480 x 800 crap is killing nokia. yes i know its a cheap phone but look at 820, it is not cheap but still has the same dated resolution.

Jamdot says:

Buy a 920 then.

Chemilinski says:

It isn't quite that simple..
So many pros and cons to consider that it isn't a fine difference between getting a 920 with a 720p screen or getting any other Lumia which doesn't.
I'm finding it hard just to choose between getting a 620 or 720 or 820!

MattLFC says:

o2 cant be the premium provider for windows phone, because all they ever want to sell you, is iPhones. Oh wait now, they were palms partner when the pre was out and did the same thing, palm and the pre are no longer with us. They have exclusivity over the coloured lumia 620's, and in the uk atm, the 620 is unheard of and may as well not have been released... The colours should have been in every network and store and grabbing attention from the masses, o2 successfully killed it off for their chums at apple once again. As above too, o2 have the worst network for the internet, and their data allowances are hurrendous, not to mention their tariffs are expensive...

MattLFC says:

Also, why do you not even mention the amazing battery life of the 720? If i were to get a 720, it'd probably be fkr the battery life. :)
