HealthVault is an online service from Microsoft to track, record and store health/medical related information. The Windows Phone app, HealthVault, is a mobile client for this service to let you have access to all your health and fitness information while on the go.

WpFandora for Windows Phone

WpFandora is a unofficial Pandora client for your Windows Phone. The app comes in two versions, a free ad-supported version and a $2.99 ad free version (WpFandora Pro). The music app is laid out nicely and as long as Pandora doesn't break their public API, the app ran smoothly.

I'm not a big Pandora user but WpFandora came across as a simple, easy way to channel your Pandora stations to your Windows Phone. WpFandora is definitely worth trying if you are looking for a Pandora client for your Windows Phone.

Nutrition for Windows Phone

Trying to eat healthier? Want a simple way to find the nutritional value of what you're eating? Take a look at the Windows Phone app Nutrition. Nutrition is a simple, straight forward app that will let you search and review the nutritional values.

Nutrition is laid out simple with one page to search for your favorite foods and another to list any foods you tag as favorites. Just type in the food you are searching for and from the result, pick your poison. Nutrition is powered by FatSecret.com and will display the food items calories, serving size, fat, cholesterol, and other nutritional values.  Nutrition presents you with a healthy amount of information on what you're eating.

Nutrition

You can tag an item as a favorite and it will appear on the Favorites page for easy reference. There is also a link to FatSecret's website for each food item to view more information on the item.

All in all, I found Nutrition to be a basic, easy to use resource to check out the nutritional values of what's on the menu.  Some may find Nutrition lacking and I agree that recipes, pictures, diet recommendations would give Nutrition a little more bang.  But Nutrition does what it's designed to do (pull up nutritional information) well.

Nutrition is a free application for your Windows Phone that you can find here at the Marketplace.

Windows Phone App Review: Sound Asleep

Sound Asleep for Windows Phone

Here's a quick look at the Windows Phone app, Sound Asleep. Sound Asleep is a simple, straight forward sound generator to help you relax and get to sleep easier. There's not a lot of bells and whistles but if you need the sound of rain and crickets to help you fall asleep, it'll do that.

Sound Asleep has six tiles, representing each sound. There is Ocean and Waves, Thunderstorms, Rain and Crickets, Beach Sounds, Babbling Brook (the creek), and Waterfalls. Just tap on a tile to start the respective sound.

Sound Asleep

Sound Asleep is a nice app and has potential. But it's missing a few key features that would help give things more appeal. First, there isn't a timer. Once you tap a tile, the sound plays continuously until you stop it. It does play under a locked screen but I'm not sure you want the app to run well after you make it to a deep sleep.

To pause a sound you have to hit the volume key to pull down the playback controls. It's not a difficult process but I couldn't help but think it would be easier to tap the tile to start the sound and then tap the tile again to stop it.

All in all, Sound Asleep is a decent sound generator for your Windows Phone. There is room for improvement but if you're looking for a simple sound generator it's worth a try. Sound Asleep is a free, ad supported app that you can find here at the Windows Phone Marketplace.

Zombies on the Phone! Lead

Few professionally-made games attempt to embrace the punk rock culture. After all, most games strive to look and sound as professional as possible rather than adhere to a DIY philosophy. But that’s just what Ska Studios’ I Made a Game with Zombies in It!!! (aka I MAED A GAM3 W1TH Z0MBIES 1N IT!!!1) did in 2009. Released as an Xbox Live Indie Game on the Xbox 360 and sold for a mere 80 Microsoft Points ($1), it quickly became a big hit among cost-conscious 360 gamers. With the move to Windows Phone, the game received official Xbox Live status. The mobile version couldn’t be sold for a dollar since Live titles start at $2.99. Thus the developers threw in a couple of new game modes, and Zombies on the Phone (Z0MB1ES!!1 (on teh ph0ne) was born.
