Squids is a relatively new Windows Phone 8 game that has you playing the role of various squids in an under sea action adventure.

The story line has your team of squids in danger of an infectious black ooze that is corrupting the sea. Naturally, it's your job to build a team of squids to defeat the enemies and save the day.

Squids is a fun game that does grow on you and is a nice addition to the Windows Phone gaming library.

Own a Windows Phone? Own a car? If the answer to both is yes, then you need a car charger. If you want your car charger to stand out from the typical coiled chargers, take a look at the TYLT Band Car Charger.

The TYLT uses a half inch wide flat band instead of the traditional coiled, springy cord you'd find on most chargers. To add to the TYLT's ability to stand out, the charger comes in four colors.

Windows 8 tablets are a great option for those wanting portable, compact options for their computing needs.  We've taken a look at the Samsung ATIV Smart PC and now we turn our sights on the Acer Iconia W510 tablet.

The Acer is a smidgen smaller than the Samsung or even the Microsoft Surface series, sporting a 10.1" CrystalBrite LED-backlit TFT LCD instead of a 11.6" screen. While the W510 may be smaller, it doesn't skimp on features.  The Acer Iconia W510 is a really nice option to consider if you're in the market for a compact Windows 8 tablet at a decent price.

Intellicam is a Windows Phone 8 camera app that might come in handy if you find yourself missing shots because of challenging subjects or have your hands full.

Intellicam utilizes facial recognition and voice commands to activate the shutter. No need to reach for the shutter button or tap the screen. Just wait for someone to face the camera or say the trigger word ("cheese" by default).

It's an innovative concept and while Intellicam may not appeal to everyone it can be a handy, hands free option for your camera.

If there is one thing Lumia 920 owners are happy about, it’s their camera. So it’s finally nice to see some aftermarket-accessories build off of what Nokia has started (though personally, we’d like to see Nokia get involved in this area too).

We’ve covered some magnetic lens adapters in the past, and while “cheap” they did offer users a new creative ability with their phones. After all, if you’re a good photographer, you can make “art” out of anything and those lenses enabled some neat options.

Now we have a 12x telephoto lens that comes out of Guangdong, China and it goes for just slightly less than $20 (plus shipping). We ordered ours through Amazon.com and it took about 10 days or so for the product to arrive.

Last week, most of us were thrilled when Monster Burner launched as a free Xbox Windows Phone game. Surprisingly, a few days later Monster Burner is no longer free; it now sells for a dollar. The only other time an Xbox Windows Phone game has gone up in price (Angry Birds and ilomilo promotions excluded)  was Miniclip’s Fling jumping from 99 cents to a too-high $2.99 last year.

Monster Burner was free on iOS before it got pulled and relies heavily on In-App Purchases. Now that it costs a buck, should you still get it? Read on to find out...

EasyNotes is a fairly simple note app for your Windows Phone 8 device. EasyNotes isn't a note taking app per say but rather a feature rich app to create sticky notes or reminders.

Notes are highly customizable from fonts, background image, sharing and they can also be backed up/restored to Skydrive. EasyNotes is a nice app if your constantly creating reminders or notes for everything from grocery/shopping lists, to-do lists, or anything else a gentle reminder will keep you out of the doghouse.

SuperPhoto Free is a photo editing app for your Windows Phone 8 or 7.x device that boasts to have hundreds of awesome effects.

Admittedly, SuperPhoto Free does have a healthy selection of filters, effects and other photo editing effects. The app's secret? None of the effects are stored on your Windows Phone. Instead, the effects are downloaded to your Windows Phone when selected.

This system not only gives you a large selection of photo editing tools but also keeps the from taking up too much storage space. Minimizing the need for on-board storage is SuperPhoto Free's strength but beyond that, the app is a little cumbersome.

The first Gravity Guy starred a hero wrongfully imprisoned by his evil government for manipulating gravity. He broke out of prison, only to be endlessly pursued by a heartless Gravity Trooper. At the end of the game, Gravity Guy escapes to his freedom.

Gravity Guy 2 disappoints ever so slightly by comparison because all pretense of story is gone. Players control a now-helmetless Gravity Guy, but the cut scene bookends and evil pursuer have vanished. The store description says Guy has been captured and cloned (Miniclip also published this webpage to expand on the premise), but that doesn’t spill over into the game itself.

In fact, the first game’s story mode and local multiplayer are MIA as well. An endless runner doesn’t need these things to keep players entertained, but the lack of context and modes still represents a small step back in an otherwise much improved game. Still! Forget the missing bits, this one really is much better.

Gravicon is a new game for our Windows Phone 7.x and 8 devices that is a bubble burst styled game with a new approach. You still have to match three or more of the same styled bubbles but with Gravicon, the bubbles act like bubbles.

That is they float to the bottom of the screen, as a bubble would, and if you rotate your Windows Phone around they shift and bounce around with the movements. Gravicon is an interesting play on a classic mobile game that definitely grows on you.

While a review of the Blackberry Mini Stereo Speaker may sound like it's better suited for our friends over at Crackberry.com, the tiny Bluetooth speaker works rather well with our Windows Phones.

The Mini Stereo Speaker is compact, has very good audio quality and has decent battery life. While the mini speaker works great as a external speaker for listening to music, it may not be very practical as a hands-free solution for your Windows Phone.

Rain Alarm for your Windows Phone is a weather radar app that can alert you of rain or snow through push notifications.

The main view of Rain Alarm is your typical map with the latest weather service radar displayed. Radar imagery is animated and can be paused or refreshed with the control buttons at the bottom of the screen.

Rain Alarm is a fairly simple app but may come in handy if you want to avoid the wet stuff while traveling or just don't want to caught off guard.

Bowling games for your Windows Phone can be a great way to pass the time. AE Bowling 3D is a relatively new bowling game for our Windows Phone that has promise.

AE Bowling 3D has two game modes and the option to play solo games, games against the computer and multi-player games (pass and play style). Graphics are nice, you're not bogged down with a lot of transition screens, and you have the ability to control the angle of your throw with your Windows Phone tilt sensors. The physics could be better but all in all, AE Bowling 3D isn't too shabby of a game.

Pic Stitch is a relatively new Windows Phone collage builder with a built in photo editor. It's a fairly simple app that has a nice selection of collage templates that can be customized along with a photo editor powered by Aviary (much like you see in Instagraph and other Windows Phone photography apps).

Pic Stitch is a decent photo app for Windows Phone 8 with the only real downside being that it lacks a trial version.

Interval is an Windows Phone 8 app that puts an alarm, stopwatch and timer all under one roof. The app has live tile support, a clock view and a nice selection (all be it small) of alarm tones.

Admittedly, alarm apps can be a little on the boring side but Interval does a nice job of spreading everything out on three main pages and even has a Sleep Cycle alarm feature designed to keep pace with your 90 minute sleep cycles.  Interval could use a little fine tuning, but all in all, it's not a bad option for those looking for a Windows Phone 8 alarm app.

Windows Phone 8 got its first proper taste of Xbox-enabled freemium games when Gameloft’s Real Soccer 2013 debuted earlier this year. But that game reached for players’ wallets so deeply and so often that we could barely enjoy it. Now Gameloft gives us another freemium game, the social city builder Ice Age Village. Don’t let Real Soccer 2013 or Glu Mobile’s Bug Village sour your feelings toward this one; it is less buggy than its genre predecessor and even players who choose not to spend any real currency can have a good time.

Refocus is one of the cooler Windows Phone 8 camera apps we've run across. The camera app operates very similar to the Lytro Cameras or the Pelican Imaging that Nokia is investing in that allows you to choose the focal point after you capture the image.

Refocus lets you shoot now and focus later by capturing a RFI image file (SPEFO Stellar Spectra Analysis file) that can be manipulated to shift the focus point. When you get things just right, the image file is saved in .JPEG format. While we are a little shaky on the science behind Refocus, it's an awesome camera app that is a must have for all the Shutterbugs in the crowd (or anyone else who likes to take photos for that matter).

Ninepin Bowling is a 3D bowling game for your Windows Phone 8 device. It's a nicely animated, somewhat challenging game for those wanting a break from the 10-pin bowling games.

Ninepin Bowling is a fun game for your Windows Phone but it does have a little room for improvement. The one issue that may hold this game back the most is the lack of a trial version.

Marblie: Marbles Reinvented is fairly simple, yet challenging Windows Phone puzzle game. Marblie has you moving marbles around the game board to match six marbles of the same color in adjacent tiles.

Marblie is a nice puzzle game with a casual pace. While it may lack a lot of bells and whistles, the game is challenging enough to keep things interesting.  Overall, Marblie: Marbles Reinvented isn't a bad way to pass the time.

Azkend 2 is yet another fantastic Windows Phone 8 game fro 10tons. Azkend 2 is a puzzle game that calls on you to find strings of three or more of the same object. The storyline for Azkend 2 has you traveling across the ocean from England to the U.S. At some point your ship gets trapped in a whirlpool that sends you to the center of the Earth. You solve the puzzles to collect tools to help you escape to the surface.

As with other 10tons games, Azkend 2 has impressive graphics and challenging game play. Along with the main puzzle game, you also have a side game that appears in between levels that has an "Eye Spy" feel to it. Azkend 2 is a nice addition to our Windows Phone gaming library and will satisfy the puzzle lover in all of us.
