Rogers and Bell confirm HTC 8X for Canadians

HTC 8X

HTC announced the 8X today, and Rogers just dropped me a line saying that they'll have both the 8 GB and 16 GB model available. Rogers will actually have an exclusive on the 8 GB model, though I'm having a hard time believing anyone would really be itching for less storage rather than more.

No word on price just yet, but it's looking like AT&T will be getting the HTC 8X for $199, which could very well translate to Canada as well. Now just to see if TELUS, Bell, or even WIND or Mobilicity will be offering any of the new HTC devices...  Update: Bell just let me know that they'll have the device available too, though TELUS and the other carriers were conspicuously absent from the HTC press release they sent me.

Here's a quick reminder of the specs on the HTC 8X.

Rogers and Bell confirm HTC 8X for Canadians

While I'm really hoping the 920 makes it to Wind, the 8X seems like a very worthy alternative. Hope it makes it to Wind. I don't think I can ever leave, with the ridiculously low price I'm paying.

I would have jumped on the HTC if they allowed Canadians to participate in the trade up event.  Needless to say, even if I did qualify for the trade up, $35USD for a HTC HD7?  Come on...  I'll probably get myself the 920 when the time comes.

It would cross my mind to get this phone but I hate having 16 on my 900 I won't go anything less than 32gb now. Always have to delete stuff on this phone.

I hope this doesn't mean Rogers won't be carrying the 920. They've only really had one vendor per main release (Samsung for 7.0 and Nokia for 7.5).

they are actually going to get both?? @@ I wonder if they are going to stock the Lumia 920 as well, that would make them the premier of wp in Canada in my eyes

I have a feeling we'll see a Lumia 920 and HTC 8X on Rogers, Telus and Bell... Feels like carriers are fairly impressed with the WP designs and are willing to push it like they do with Galaxy S3 and HTC One.

With the 8x going to Rogers it could mean either they'll score more than one WP flagship OR that Telus will score the L920 (great news for me since I'm with Telus and planned to upgrade to the 920 anyway). Bell is getting the Ativ S and with T-Mo getting the HTC 8S that means Wind users could potentially unlock them to use here.
However I would be very disappointed if Rogers grabbed the L920 and only offered it in black again like they did the L900. I really don't want to but the AT&T model and go through trying to unlock that just for a better color choice.

If I can get Rogers or Bell to buy out my existing Telus contract (3 year BS) I'd switch in a heartbeat. Torn between a Lumia 920 (have a 800 now) and this, tho'.

A Bell CSR said that Bell will be getting 2 WP8 phones, and that the Lumia 920 will not be one of them.
The 8X is now confirmed.  I doubt Bell will sell both HTC phones, so chances are that Bell will either get the Ativ S or the Lumia 820.
I can see Rogers and Telus each carrying at least one Nokia, not sure who will get what, and at least one other phone (if Bell can have two, then Rogers and Telus should have at least 2 each as well). Maybe Rogers will get the L820 to go along with the 8X, and Telus will carry the L920 and some other one.
I doubt Wind or Mobilicity will get the L920 (as it will be an AT&T exclusive so no T-Mobile 3G bands).  Hopefully the L820 will trickle down to them (Mobi is clearing out the L710, so hopefully a WP8 for them is on the horizon).  I can see they getting a Huawei WP, as they have been selling Huaweis just to get their hands on SOME phones.  If T-Mobile gets the 8X, then maybe in 4-6 months Wind and Mobi will get it as well.  I doubt they'll get the Ativ S, as all but the hardcore WP fans will be willing to spend $700 to buy it w/o subsidies.

As a fellow Telus member, I find it frustrating how limited their selection is so far. With Windows Phone 7, they were one of the leading providers of Windows Phone. Heck, they even had a presence at the press conferences. Now they seem to be on the side lines. I hope they prove me wrong and release some info soon.

How long until we hear what's coming to Telus I wonder. Hoping to be faced with a tough decision.. 920 or 8X.. and hoping to be able to get my hands on them soon to check out in person!

I still want the Nokia but this is a great second to it.  I love it but the only problem is only 16GB of storage.  I vow to get a phone with at least 32GB.  I'm fighting 16GB every few weeks now.  why no SD card?
