The Samsung ATIV S may be the next Windows Phone 8 device to hit the shelves in China.

The Chinese Ministry of Industry has certified it to receive a network license, green-lighting it for release. There's no official word yet on when the ATIV S may make it's way there or even what carriers may offer it. CNMO, the site who reported on this, believes that when it finally does arrive it will fetch around 4,000 yuan ($642). This is a bit cheaper than Nokia's recently-released Lumia 920T, a rebranded Lumia 920 designed to run on China Mobile's TD-SCDMA network.

No, the title isn't a typo. UK retailer Littlewoods has the Samsung ATIV S listed for £699. That's over $1100 should you be reading this article from across the pond. Now, it's understandable that hardware (particularly the latest smartphones) can sometimes cost an arm and a leg. But for a well known and sizeable retailer to charge £700 for a mobile phone is slightly baffling.

UK retailers Clove and Expansys have both unveiled that they will receive stock for the ATIV S this coming Friday. The retailers have Samsung products listed on their websites, and we've all been eager to see when both will be readily available from sources here in the UK (as well as other markets).

Samsung is pushing a Windows Phone 8 smartphone, as well as a handful of Windows products that were all unveiled back in June at IFA 2013. It was the first Windows Phone 8 device to be announced and will be among the last to come to market, which has surprised and angered many consumers who were looking forward to picking up the handset earlier in the year.

With delays already having been heavily discussed, it's looking as though things might be getting a little bit brighter for the Samsung ATIV S in Canada. A snapshot of some internal documents has now turned up and reveal Bell Mobility has apparently set a release date of December 14th.

This follows the recent confrmation coming out of Austria where the device has been spotted on store shelves and ready for sale. Needless to say, we'll be following up with Bell retailers come December 14th to see if we can get our hands on one.
