Sneak peak at Evernote 2.0 [Mango]
In the above video, Damian Mehers, Senior Software Engineer of Evernote, walks us through what we can look forward too in Evernote 2.0 for Windows Phone Mango. The update will bring the ability to pin notes, tags, map locations and searches to the home screen.
Background synchronisation is going to be active with any new notes created on other platforms being displayed as a counter on the app tile, should the user not run the app on the handset since. If your device is plugged in and is connected by WiFi, Evernote will download the content as well as headers. Mango search integration we've seen with IMDB etc. will now sport Evernote with notes being created easily in that moment.
Templates can be created and pinned to the home screen, in the above video Damian runs us through creating one for creating expense claims. Better social forwarding is present making use of native Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and Windows Live so there's no need to re-enter account details.

Wow. Evernote has stepped up big time. Amazing stuff Damian Mehers. I can't wait to get it. I got Evernote on my Hero when I was android. I didn't expect much but the more I used it the more I needed to use it. But on that smallish device, force closing every other day I eventually dropped android. This is good to see for WP7 Mango.

This is very nice. I'm using the new version now and it works great. The new features on the mobile version make the entire Evernote system so much more useful. That's saying a lot because it was already very useful.

I'll admit it's a very nice app. But I don't really see what it has to offer over OneNote. Is there a reason to install this third-party app for a function that already comes native to the OS? I'm not being cocky or anything. I'm really curious.

the fact that the pc version is free is a pretty serious benefit for many people

Ah. Makes sense for those who don't use MS Office, or not a new enough version to have OneNote. Very cool. Carry on then. : )
