Sydney gets the Amazing Everyday day treatment with giant Lumia 800s

Sydney's giant Lumia 800

Speaking of Australia, it shouldn't be a surprise that Nokia has ramped up advertising what with the Lumia 800 launching there this week (see WPDownUnder's coverage of the launch).

Now we're seeing some of that creativity pay off with a few "giant" interactive Lumia 800s on bus stops throughout the city. It's a great way to show off the UI by simply going, touching and interacting with it right there on the street.

If you want to see it yourself, according the Nokia Australia Facebook page, you can find them in Sydney at these locations:

  • Martin Place
  • Pitt St.
  • Darling Harbour
  • Haymarket
  • Circular Quay

Hopefully this will gain some attention for the fledgling device.

Just thought I'd add that I've got word from Nokia that these touchscreens will be arriving in Melbourne on the 7th, 8th or 8th of May.

Would be perfect for the bus stop outside the Apple Store :P

Well Martin Place is only a block away from there anyway...

It seems that public hygiene plays a secondary role in these promotional methods...

You do realize you touch things that have been touched by thousands of other people every day - right?

Saw one on the way to work today. But it needs to be available in more places. And I still havent seen any tv spots yet. Infact, they were still running ads for Nokia N9 last month. Hope they pick up their game, cos otherwise, atleast in Aus, its all iPhone, android also has a relatively low presence. People lean more towards word of mouth here, cos everyone handles an iPhone here, and no one has any idea what, if any, other mobiles are available. Its a bit sad, since even though I dont have anything against Apple, except that their advertisements are very misleading, I think people are now almost like automatons over here, following what has been fed into their brain. I know, since I used to work in a vodafone shop as my part time work.

Things are changing, but still it would take time.
