T-Mobile Lumia 710 now $39.99 with free accessories

T-Mobile's Lumia 710 is now just $39.99

It was pretty exciting to hear that the Nokia Lumia 710 would be debuting on T-Mobile at a dirt-cheap price of $49.99, but it's even sweeter to hear that it's even cheaper now.  T-Mobile has dropped the 710 down to $39.99 and is also throwing in some free accessories to boot.  If you switch to T-Mobile or add a new line of service, not only will you get the Lumia 710 for forty bucks, but you will receive a black gel skin, car charger and a Motorola Bluetooth headset for free.  If you are looking for a solid 4G phone at a reasonable price, this just might be the deal for you.

Um, is the 710 "4G"?

Plus 50 dollar main in rebate so its actually 89.99 up front.  How is that cheaper?

JamesDax3 says:

Previously it was 99.99 up front so it is indeed $10 cheaper.

As I was in t-mo this weekend the salesman was in love with WP mobile but he made it clear that the 710 was not a 4g phone even though the advertisement in the window advertised it as such. Anyone care to clear this up?

JamesDax3 says:

Bad salesman is bad.

jubbing says:

4G and 4G LTE (like the Lumia 900) differ by speeds. Just more terminology to confuse everyone. LTE is faster, 4G is faster than 3G, etc. In truth, none of the above actually meet the official 4G speed guidelines (LTE-Advanced is though) which is why the LTE term is thrown on there (variation of 4g but more advanced)

tdeljr says:

For only new line. They never offer deals for their loyal customers. I am able to upgrade at a one year discount and it will still cost $250.00 for one. I think that they should reward the existing customers as well.

Ordeith says:

It is as 4g as you are ever going to get on T-mobile

Dormage says:

Sure, he was just wrong.

Strange. I'm not up on my US bands so not sure what I'm looking for but here's the spec:
http://www.nokia.com/us-en/products/phone/lumia710/specifications/
Could an American check it out?
Not sure why I'm bothering but pretty sure no reference was ever made to it being 4G at CES - thought the 900 was supposed to be the first.

aubreyq says:

The Lumia 900 is the first Windows Phone with LTE. They don't use "4G" when referencing the 900.

jchapman01 says:

If you're on AT&T the Focus Flash is only $.99.

jchapman01 says:

There is an argument whether what T-Mobile has is actually 4G. I think that's what he meant.

MediaCastleX says:

It is plenty F(aceboo)king fast, let me tell you... =P

gtbuzz says:

I saw this in the Costco this weekend for either $0.01 or $0.99, I forget which one. Seems like a better deal than having to go through TMo with all their rebates and whatnot. Unfortunately they don't sell off contract.

yup. though not really a complaint on the price (this is the low-end offering after all, we're not talking about the 900 here...) but is this a sign its not selling well? that would be bad..

Residing says:

I don't think it's a sign that it isn't selling well - it's a web only offer, and the instore price is still the launch selling price.  Web offers are usually better on all carriers as you tend to get better prices, free shipping, and sometimes activation fees waived.  It looks like with this deal, it is sweeter because you $10 offer the regular price and a free accessory.

nyc_rock says:

Oh sure, companies always offer incentives on thier best selling products.  ;)

You can consider it 3G plus. It's not LTE but 3G on steroids is a good way of putting it. Its close but not true 4G.

JamesDax3 says:

So what is "TRUE" 4G?

jubbing says:

LTE-advanced is considered true 4G. See my above explanation

WinFan1 says:

i cant wait im getting the lumia 710 in feb :D UPGRADE well not really cuz realistically only thing upgraded about it is the processor from my radar but who cares now ill have a choice between white phone of black phone! im excited :p

HSDPA? AKA 3.5G? I understand now.

JamesDax3 says:

Apparently not.  It's not 3.5G it's 4G.

Period.

JamesDax3 says:

It supports speeds up to 14.4Mbps.  It's T-Mobiles low end 4G.  They also offer phones with 21.1Mbps(mid) and 42.2Mbps(highend).

lippidp says:

If Bestbuy.com is any indicator, Nokia is doing very well in the U.S.! Here are sales rankings as of today:

AT&T (61 phones offered)
26. Samsung Focus Flash (25. a week ago, 25. a month ago)
29. HTC Titan (36. a week ago, 36. a month ago)
48. Samsung Focus S (55. a week ago, 63. a month ago)
54. HTC HD7S (57. a week ago, 65. a month ago)
58. HTC Surround (58. a week ago, 67. a month ago)

T-Mobile (34 phones offered)
2. Nokia Lumia 710 Black (25. a week ago, not available a month ago)
3. Nokia Lumia 710 White (26. a week ago, not available a month ago)
6. HTC Radar (13. a week ago, 14. a month ago)

Verizon (55 phones offered)
52. HTC Trophy (41. a week ago, 50. a month ago)

Sprint (45 phones offered)
38. HTC Arrive (28. a week ago, 25. a month ago)

JamesDax3 says:

Looks like T-Mobile is doing really well with the Radar and 710.  I still wish would get the Titan, Focus S or L900.

dakranii says:

It's because FINALLY a carrier is giving a WP7 it's due.  I've never seen a WP7 banner at a carrier before, but T-Mobile has the Lumia 710 and Radar sitting front and center at the entrance to their store with a huge banner showing them.  It's impossible to walk by it and not notice.  It's nice to see.

lippidp says:

I'm sure Verizon and Sprint are taking notice.  I bet they are in talks to get the Nokia gravy train to stop at their stations, too!

JamesDax3 says:

Nice to see all the Prime Time commercials for this device I've been seeing every night on TV.

jabtano says:

I like the deal that I got last week. We added a new line and got the 710 for free.

jabtano says:

Its one heck of a device.aside from the screen size it blows away the HD7 in ever aspect but screen size. Hd7 has no volume the 710 is loud and fast.i want a high end Nokia on T-MO

ejlee072006 says:

I will add a line when my mom gets here.. My hd7 has nothing on the lumia 710.i want something with front facing camera.. The radar is ok but the only white color killed it for me... Tmo 4g is not real 4g its better than 3g though..

ejlee072006 says:

Yup keep pricing of smartphone lower, I can't wait how other manufacturers react to this... Lets go Nokia flood the market

My "4G" HTC Titan on ATT is slow as balls. My 3G HTC HD7 was 10x faster

lippidp says:

Hahahaha!  My balls actually go pretty fast, but I think I know what you were trying to say... :)

JamesDax3 says:

AT&Ts "4G" actually sucks when compared to T-Mobile, but thier LTE is supposed to be really fast.

venom5150 says:

Did you guys see the reviews on that phone. Wow! I just went to sprint, Verizon, and att with all Windows Phones rated very high.

jubbing says:

Does them dropping the price so quickly mean sales are poorer than expected?

JamesDax3 says:

No, see the post up above.  The 710 and Radar are 2 of the top selling phones on T-Mobile right now.

identity-x says:

At the little kiosk thingy at Wal-Mart where I live it's priced at $18.88. Nice big poster of it hanging up, and plenty of little photos next to the display device noting it's "4G" (and some other things..> I forget)

Cartman says:

Interesting. I have no doubt that this is a better phone than the HTC Radar at half the price. Guess a front facing camera is not THAT important?

jubbing says:

Both are good phones.

Troyseph says:

I have a Radar and it is amazing. The design reminds of a first generation iPhone, solid and sleek. The buttons on the 710 really turned me off. It had a cheap feel.

The TV ad still have it $49

The Lumia 710 is an ugly phone, I would chose an HTC Radar in a heart beat over the Lumia. How does Nokia plan selling this phone well if the design is really ugly. I understand they want to make inexpensive phones but at least make them look nice just like HTC did with the Radar.
