BlueAnt Firmware Updates

One of the nice features on many of the newer Bluetooth accessories is the ability to update the firmware. BlueAnt Wireless has a handful of Bluetooth headphones and speakers that can be updated reducing the need to replace your Bluetooth accessory.

We recently reviewed BlueAnt's S4 Bluetooth Speaker (which is firmware updateable) and discovered that BlueAnt had released an updated firmware version. Firmware Version 1.6 is reported to enhance the integration with BING-411 and newer phones and improve voice prompts.

The update process for the S4 is similar to that for BlueAnt's T1, Q1, V1, Z9i and Z9.  Curious how the update process went? Ease on past the break to learn more about BlueAnt's update process and how the latest update effected the S4.

Review: BlueAnt S4 Bluetooth Speaker

BlueAnt has released its latest Bluetooth Speakerphone, the S4. The S4's main features center around the use of voice commands to enhance the "hands free" experience. While you can still control the speakerphone with buttons, with the S4 you can say "answer" or "ignore" to manage incoming calls.

In addition to offering hands free calling, the S4 also puts BING information at your disposal through BING 411 and allows access to audible text messages by being Vlingo compatible. All in all, the S4 hopes to keep your hands more on the wheel and less on your phone.

We had the opportunity to take the S4 out for a test drive and found it to offer some "cool" features. We also found some features still needed a little work. Follow the break to what type of impression the S4 left.

BlueAnt T1 Giveaway

We recently reviewed the BlueAnt T1 Bluetooth headset and found it to be a nice, rugged headset.  We haven't had a giveaway in a while, so what better time than the present.

It's also been a while since we did a "show us your home page" discussion over in the forums. So we decided to kill two birds with one stone. If your interested in winning the T1, simply head on over to this Forums discussion and share your home screen. If you're not sure how to capture your home screen there are tons of methods such as MyMobiler or Shake and Save.

We'll let the discussion run until 7:00pm PST on August 11, 2010 and randomly choose one post to win the T1. You do have to register to participate (a painless process that starts here) and we'll post a "braggin' rights" announcement later that week.

UPDATE: Seeing that it's been so long since we've had a give away, one prize just didn't seem to be enough. While the first prize will remain the T1, we'll choose a second post at random for a Maximo iMetal Stereo Headset.

Review: BlueAnt T1 Rugged Headset

The T1 is the latest Bluetooth headset offering from BlueAnt.  Billed as a durable, reliable device to give high quality audio in the most challenging condition, the T1 is sure to turn heads.

The T1 headset ($79.95) is the first to feature BlueAnt's Wind Armour Technology that boasts clear audio in wind speeds up to 22mph. The BlueAnt T1 also features voice commands similar to the BlueAnt Q1 headset.  Instead of pressing a button to answer calls, you simply have to say "Answer" or "Ignore" to handle things. Other voice commands may be available dependent on your Windows Phone.

We had the opportunity to take the T1 out for a test drive and ease on past the break to see how it measured up.

BlueAnt has released a firmware update for their Q1 Bluetooth Headset. The Q1's firmware version 8.19 is being considered a major update by BlueAnt and brings the ability for streaming audio to the voice controlled headset. A2DP audio streaming will allow users to listen to their favorite tunes, podcasts, as well as some GPS turn-by-turn navigation (GPS has to support A2DP).

The update also includes a few button changes in that now only one click of the button will end a call and double clicking the button during a call will switch between BlueAnt's Voice Isolation Standard and Max settings.

The firmware update and instructions on how to update your Q1 can be found over at BlueAnt's web site.

Review: BlueAnt Q1 Voice Controlled Headset

Voice commands have made life a lot easier. They offer a level of convenience and while driving makes life a little safer. We've enjoyed voice commands native to our Windows Mobile phones for some time now and thanks to BlueAnt, we now can enjoy them on our Bluetooth headsets.

Enter the BlueAnt Q1 voice-controlled headset. On the surface, it looks like your typical thin, compact Bluetooth headset. Start using the Q1 and you can't help but smile when the headset asks what you would like to do and listens.

Follow the break to see how well the Blueant Q1 listens to your commands.

Review: BlueAnt S1 Sun Visor Speakerphone

Admit it, you do it. You talk on your phone in your car. No headset, no speakerphone. One hand on the wheel, the other on your smartphone. For shame.

Here's a quick look at the BlueAnt S1 Sun Visor Bluetooth Car Kit with Multipoint — that's a lot of words that mean "speakerphone," and one that packs the usual BlueAnt power and one very cool feature you don't find most places. Read on.

Review: BlueAnt V1 voice-control bluetooth headset

The BlueAnt V1 ($89.95) hails itself as the world’s first voice-controlled BT headset and builds upon the already successful Z9/Z9i series. There’s no secret around here at WMExperts that we happen to like BlueAnt’s stuff and the V1 continues that winning streak. In short, it’s one of the best BT headsets we’ve tried and is a great successor to the Z9i. If you don’t have Micorsoft’s VoiceCommand on your phone or don’t have a BlueAnt already, then the V1 is a perfect choice.

Read on for a bunch of shots and our full review of this fantastic release from BlueAnt.

I love it when my iPhone toting friends start describing why their phone is the superior device on the smartphone market. My typical response is going through the list of things that my Tilt does that their precious iPhone does not. The primary weakness that I tend to bring up is the lack of A2DP (Bluetooth stereo audio) support.
