Nokia “EOS” PureView rumored for July, also working on a “phablet”

A little over a week ago we told you folks about Windows Phone supporting 1080p displays later this year. Windows Phone 8 added supported for both 720p and 768p displays, both of which were present on handsets like the Lumia 920 and HTC 8X at launch. The 1080p support will be available for handsets over 5 inches, allowing Windows Phone devices to compete against the surprisingly popular ‘phablet’ category. And it looks like Nokia may be one of the first to produce such a phablet, as early as July. But wait, there’s more.

My Nokia Blog is reporting on specifications the next Nokia flagship Windows Phone (possibly the RM-877) will feature. Mentioning sources familiar with company plans, it's believed that the device will indeed have a superior camera to what's currently available on the platform. That we can be sure of as Nokia is pushing optics even further, but what about the other entries on the specifications sheet? According to the source, Nokia is working on two different models of the EOS, which we've previously looked at numerous times.

New Nokia RM-877 caught on AT&T’s network, destined to be new flagship Lumia?

There’s not too much to go on with this story but evidently a new Nokia phone, RM-877 (RM-877_nam_att_205) with a 1280x768 display has been caught in the web of AdDuplex.

As to what RM-877 is exactly, we cannot discern. The good news is that being 1280x768, it can only be a 9xx series or higher phone (Lumia 8xx have 800x480 displays, as does everything else below it). From there we can speculate that this is either a Lumia 920 refresh or the anticipated ‘EOS’ phone with a high megapixel camera akin to the Pureview 808, which will be sold alongside the current Lumia 920.

We're seeing a gradual growth in speculation for Nokia's next Windows Phone, which is set to be unveiled (or at least touched on) at this month's Mobile World Congress. We've previously looked at and even produced an in-depth report on the mysterious device. One of the uncertain elements of this Windows Phone is what family of products would it belong to.

Now MobileGeeks.de have come across the above image, which reveals a Lumia 1000 in a China Mobile database. We're not quite over Lumia 9000 just yet, but were slowly getting there. So the question for the next Nokia Windows Phone is now: Lumia 1000 or kick off the EOS line of products? While it's entirely possible Nokia may look to continue its Lumia family of products, we doubt this finding is anything to go by for the rumoured EOS Windows Phone.

Report: Nokia to bring blockbuster 41MP EOS Windows Phone to the US this summer

The Guardian, no slouch when it comes to news reporting, is citing sources close to Nokia that indeed, the company is getting ready to reveal a 41MP Windows Phone dubbed ‘EOS’. Destined for the US, the high end phone is expected to go on sale in the summer (presumably around May).

Originally reported by the Verge, this is the second confirmation of such an inbound device on the cusp of release.

News of such a phone is expected to be revealed in a few weeks in Barcelona at the Mobile World Congress, where Nokia has a press conference scheduled...

Nokia plans to unveil another Windows Phone, codenamed EOS this year, according to sources familiar with company plans. The Verge has learned that the device is set to include a similar sensor to which is found on the Nokia 808 PureView. The optics upgrade would further advance Nokia's imaging technology, as well as provide yet another high-end Lumia Windows Phone for consumers.
