Nokia is a massive company, there's no disputing that fact, but the manufacturer has been able to engage with its community of consumers and developers successfully since joining Windows Phone (and prior to that too). Interacting with customers and the community in general, whether it be through social media or even hosting themed events, is an important task but Nokia is one of those companies which is easy to approach, no matter who you are.

Pepper, the cross-platform music discovery service, has been available on Windows Phone and Windows 8 for some time, but the service itself has been restricted to just the UK. This is because the team behind Pepper are building more than just an ‘app’ – development time has been invested in creating services and tools for the live music industry, ensuring that the content provided is more detailed and accurate than standard event listing services. Folk in the US have been crying out for localised support and we've got some great news for you – Pepper is now available in not only the UK, but the US too.

Whether you're an avid music fan attending every local gig advertised or someone who enjoys discovering new talent with friends, Pepper is a service worth checking out. The Windows Phone app enables you to check out local venues in supported areas, seeing what's on the calendar, not to mention checking-in, sharing the experience and more. It's quite the companion for live music lovers.

Nokia and La Blogotheque, a team of bloggers and videographers infamous for helping kick start careers of musicians globally, have teamed up to showcase hot new UK music talent at a series of free gigs across the country. Much like the Lumia Live events we've seen (and enjoyed) in the past, Nokia will be hosting yet more free parties for consumers to get the Windows Phone treatment.

If you happen to live in the St. Louis area or just happen to be passing through on February 23rd you may want to stop by the Triumph Grill for the 2013 Windows Phone St. Louis Meetup.

It's an opportunity for Windows Phones developers and fans to come together and share ideas and experiences with like minded folk. This is the third (or is it the fourth?) meetup in St. Louis and Nokia has helped sponsor each event. This go around, Nokia is providing a Lumia 900 as a door prize.

The event will start at 12PM and run until 4PM and attendees will be responsible for their food and drinks. If you plan to attend, you can sign up here so organizers will know to reserve enough seats. There is also a discussion going on here in the Windows Phone Central Forums about the meetup in case you have any questions, comments or suggestions.

Yes folks it’s finally here, the week that will see Microsoft launch Windows 8, spearheading its massive 2012 product launch schedule. It’s keystone of the ‘Three Screens & Cloud’ play and this is where we see how it’s all going to shake out.

The pre-orders for Surface have started and even run dry in some regions, invites to the various launch events have gone out and now it’s time to put all the cards on the table. With such a wide ranging spruce-up of the entire product line from Xbox to Windows Phone, we’re in for a wild ride. Windows 8 will be at the centre of these launches, not just because it’s Windows but because with it we will see a whole host of services light up to enable the entire eco system.

Windows Phone App Review: Time After Time

Time After Time is an interesting reminder app for your Windows Phone. The app not only lets you set reminders for tasks, events and other what nots but also helps you manage re-occurring items or events that you may want to keep track of. Such as changing the oil in your car, taking your wife out to dinner, or treating your kids to a zoo trip.

Time After Time is a very clean looking app that utilizes tiles for quick reference to your tasks/events, offers five color themes, and a menu page gives you access to a list view, about screen and instructions page.

The team behind the Facebook for Windows Phone app has announced an imminent update that will address an issue, which was introduced in the recent 2.3 update. A number of our readers noticed that you could no longer access the Events from the main menu (this now requires hitting the "..." menu and filtering our the news feed).

Good news for those who utilise this feature often and miss the easy menu entry. We'll update you all when the fix has been approved and rolled out on the Marketplace.

As we post, Canadian artist Deadmau5 is atop Millbank Tower in London to performing live in a 4D extravaganza.  The event is sponsored by Nokia as part of their Nokia Lumia Live series, and our very own Rich Edmonds and Jay Bennett are there.  800 windows of Millbank Tower have been transformed into a screen for a gigantic visual presentation (here's the teaser video).

If you are lucky enough to be there, say hello to our peeps.  If not, be sure to catch the live stream above, and keep up with the action on FaceBook.  You can also check out the teaser for some behind-the-scenes goodness.

Microsoft's "Spend the Night with Windows Phone" tour continues this weekend, stopping in Chicago tonight and tomorrow. We enjoyed the New York City stop and the only downside is that the tour can't hit more cities.

Microsoft shared their coverage of the New York City event over on their Windows Phone YouTube Channel and you can check out our coverage here.  If we aren't mistaken, around the 1:54 mark in the video we think that's Dan doing his best head-banger impersonation.  Regardless it does look like Matt and Kim rocked the house.

From Chicago, the Spend the Night tour heads to these cities

  • Dallas November 16-17th
  • Los Angeles November 30th, December 1st
  • San Francisco December 6-7th.

You can RSVP for these events over at the Windows Phone Facebook page and the first twenty people to reserve for each night will bet a VIP upgrade. Space is limited so reserve your spot today.

It's been a good week for official apps on Windows Phone, with NBC Nightly NewsFoodSpotting, MTV News, Steven Colbert's The Word, VH1 to Go and probably a few others we missed, it shows that big companies and services are recognizing the increasing popularity of WP7.

Today, StubHub's official free app launched (see their site). For those unfamiliar, StubHub is a website where you can buy and sell tickets for just about anything (sports, concerts and theater) at a reasonable price. It's like legalized scalping without the huge markup in price.

The app is simple enough with a nice design. It allows you to have your "favorites" including by venue, search, upcoming events, all events and access to your account. For venues, you even get a nice "seat map", can of course buy tickets right from your phone and in some cases, have the tickets "electronically delivered" making this pretty great if you're already near the venue at the moment but it's sold out. Our only complaint? It's sometimes a little sluggish switching menus, something we think a v1.1 update will address at some point. Now excuse us, we're off to see Bootsy Collins...awww yeah.

Grab it here in the Marketplace. Thanks, Jeremy H., for the tip
