File this Xbox Windows Phone game release under "better late than never."

Yes, the highly anticipated Xbox-enabled version of AlphaJax is now available at last.

AlphaJax is a Windows Phone-exclusive online Scrabble clone that has made quite a name for itself since its debut in December 2010. The New Zealand-based developer Marker Metro got excited about the platform prior to its release that year, and they’ve never looked back since. Thanks to a beautiful UI and consistent updates, AlphaJax remains one of the most popular online word games for Windows Phone – despite lacking cross-platform multiplayer like many of its competitors.

Back in September, we reported that indie word game and Windows Phone exclusive AlphaJax would be upgraded to Xbox Live status (or is that Xbox Windows Phone status?) at long last. The game’s developer, Marker Metro has been a Windows Phone supporter since before the platform launched. That support finally paid off when they got Microsoft to pick up publishing rights for the Xbox Windows Phone version this year. Gamers will also reap the benefits of the upgrade quite soon, as the new version launches this Wednesday!

Swedish carrier Three (or "3") is offering the Nokia Lumia 800 on a 2-year contract for 299 kr (about $40), but that's not all as the carrier is also bundling the 4G slim version of the Xbox 360 for free. 2GBs of data is included in the plan, and with a free Xbox who can grumble?

We've previously covered similar offers in Sweden with the LG Optimus 7, so it's good to see carriers using Lumia Windows Phones in attempt to push more out the doors. The Lumia 800 itself is a sturdy mid-range Windows Phone that sports a 1.4Ghz chip, 512MB RAM, 16GB storage, 3.7 AMOLED display (with Clear Black technology), and has access to Nokia's collection of OEM exclusive apps.

Elgiganten, a Swedish electronics retailer, currently has an intriguing offer for those who are looking to move to Windows Phone. Should you pick up your own first generation LG Optimus 7 for 2390kr (approx. $360), you'll also walk away with a brand new Xbox 360 console to make use of that Gold subscription while on the go as well as on the big screen.

The website states that there's over 100 in stock so it would be unwise not to take advantage should you still be on the fence of making a purchase.

The official date for the Lumia 800 release in South Africa was set for the 7th of February, but Simon Dingle has just tweeted out the image above.

If you struggle to read white on red, then here's the breakdown: The Nokia Lumia 800 will see it's first promotion on the 26'th January starting at 8AM. The first 200 people to purchase will get a free XBOX (presumably a 360). Seems like a pretty good deal, although obviously there is no pricing mentioned.

So what is the significance of the 26'th? That's the morning after the Nokia Lumia 800 launch event held at the Vodacom Dome, which is tomorrow.

Stay frosty, and lookout for our report from the launch tomorrow!

For those of you on Tele2 looking for a killer deal, may we direct your attention towards this offer for the HTC Radar? The Swedish based carrier evidently just got the Radar in stock and they're going all out by offering it for 244 SEK a month (on a 24 month contract) and they'll also throw in an Xbox 360 Slim plus the popular game Forza. Huzzah!

This isn't the first time we've seen Xbox 360's given away with Windows Phone--in fact Singapore offered free gaming systems to the first 100 people who bought the Lumia 800. The HTC Radar, while a mid-range phone, is one of favorites around here at WPCentral (see review), so we recommend those even with the slightest interest to perhaps take a close look at this deal.

Good news for those of you in Sweden: Not only do you get to still live in that awesome country, but the carrier "3" is offering new Windows Phone, including the Optimus 7, Omnia 7 and 7 Trophy and are also willing to throw in a 4GB Xbox 360 Slim to the deal as well.

Of course you need to sign a 2 year contract.

But for signing away you get the phone and Xbox 360 for 299 Swedish crones or about 30 Euro, which ain't half bad if you ask us. In addition, you get 10GB of free data (10Mbit/s) on their data 3SurfMax plan Heck, they even note that the long anticipated Spotify app is "coming soon".

All in a all, a good deal if you are in the market for a new Windows Phone. It's good to see carriers taking such aggressive and logical approaches to promotion with WP7, our only issue is wondering (a) where are the new Generation 2 devices and (b) will they get the same deal?
