Microsoft’s Surface Pro tablet coupled with Windows 8, brought one of the most immersive gaming experiences to the mobile computing space when it was released back in February of 2013. Popular Android and iOS devices were also able to bring an exciting experience, but a well-built tablet with the full power of Windows truly unlocked the door for more than just a casual game on the go.

Unreal Engine 4 is coming to Windows RT and Windows Phone. Someday. That's the word from Epic Games co-founder and CEO Tim Sweeney. The new game engine saw its initial release just last week for PC, and while iOS and Android are up next for Unreal Engine 4 development, they're also keeping their eyes on the mobile operating systems out of Redmond.

Folks who take advantage of their Surface Pro 2 for gaming are probably in the minority, but Microsoft is tossing up a pretty sweet deal for those who want to get a little more than just productivity done on the device. The Microsoft Store is offering up what it calls a "Geek & Sundry" bundle deal with the Surface Pro 2 that shaves over $100 off buying the tablet, an Xbox Wireless Controller for Windows and two game downloads — War Thunder Mustang Advanced Pack and Farming Simulator 2013 — all together.

If you are a PC gamer, then you will probably remember the days of lugging around a heavy 10-pound machine, just so you could claim the ability to run Crysis on max settings. Gaming laptops of the past were fat, heavy, and had battery life so short that you could blink and the laptop would be dead. Now, Razer has introduced a refresh to their seemingly impossibly thin Ultrabook gaming machines.

Twitch is right around the corner for Microsoft’s Xbox One entertainment consoles and it will not be long before your friends begin to invite you to watch their Titanfall matches live over the internet. Twitch is a popular video streaming service for gamers. Sony’s PlayStation 4 already supports the service, but can only stream gameplay at a resolution of 960 x 540 with a 1.7Mbps bitrate. The Xbox One on the other hand, will be streaming 720p 1280 x 720 video at a 2.7 Mbps – a significant difference.

Microsoft may finally be hearing your complaints about the lack of Xbox Live support, though it may not be what you envisioned. Now, a new job posting for a newly formed team at Microsoft, dubbed initially as "New Devices and Gaming", gives some clues as to where Redmond is looking next for dominance. While Xbox 360, Xbox One and Live games are exclusive to Microsoft products, there appears to be a new strategy materializing.

Mobile operating systems aren't short of games when it comes to platformer titles and Windows Phone has some real gems available for download - we recently took a look at Paper Monsters to name but one. When it comes to PC gaming, laptops tend to be chunky and heavy machines that are nothing near portable. While we have seen competitors try to battle Dell’s Alienware subsidy with thinner machines, such as Razer’s Blade notebook, nothing can seem to hit the right balance of power, portability, and price. Gigabyte intends to help change that with their latest gaming machine, the Aorus X7.

Remember back in June when Microsoft announced their collaboration with Unity and focused on helping developers create applications and publish for Windows platforms? Microsoft has released a new advertisement for its Xbox One console. The video shows a young couple who have the next-gen console set up with multiple accounts.
