Nokia has released another update for its Glam Me app on Lumia Windows Phones. If you're not familiar with the name, it's essentially a solution for those who enjoy taking selfie shots of themselves and sharing said results with the world. We previously saw the app receive 1080p treatment in the wake of Windows Phone 8.1, and today Nokia has added a few new additions.

By now it seems to be an open secret that Windows Phone 8 will be getting HD 1080P support in GDR3, a small OS update due in November.

That version of the OS is expected to debut on the Nokia Lumia 1520, a device reportedly being announced on October 22nd in Abu Dhabi and later released in the US in early November. Likewise, Verizon Wireless is supposed to get a similar 1080P Windows Phone 8 device dubbed the Lumia 929.

We’re not entirely into the idea of “selfies” aka the practice of photographing yourself and posting it to social networks, but we know many people are these days. Nokia released their Glam Me app earlier this year after a Mobile World Congress announcement for this exact purpose, hopefully appealing to the youth crowd. The app is for taking self-shots but it has the added bonus of an onboard editor for making your face all pretty-like.

Nokia just pushed out version 1.5.5.12 of the app today and boy did it get a makeover itself. The app now has numerous new features that are really interesting, even if you have no plans for a “selfie” anytime soon.

We gave you a sneak peek at Nokia’s Glam Me app a few weeks ago at Mobile World Congress and now the app is live the Store.

The app is a simple self-portrait app that uses the front-facing camera to take some adjusted photos of oneself, applying some filters and adjustments along the way. The app can smooth out your skin tone, whiten teeth, soften the image and adjust the eyes (makes them “more open”). Later, you can add one of 14 filters to it, including B&W, Lomo, fresh, violet, magazine and sketch.

During yesterday’s press conference Nokia started to show off the advertising campaigns it will be running for the Lumia 720, and we caught a brief glimpse of their new app “Glam Me”. It’s a very simple lens which is designed to aid self-portraiture using your front facing camera.

You start by taking a picture of your smiling face having framed it live using the camera. Not forgetting to show some teeth as the app will make use of those choppers later. Using Nokia’s image processing APIs, some auto-correct magic is immediately applied to enhance skin tones and soften focus, and you’re left with a corrected image.
