Glitch

The most recent update for the Xbox One improved stability and added new functionality to Microsoft’s gaming console, but it has also had an unintended consequence: it has also made the system a bit less stable in other ways. Reports are surfacing around the web that users are experiencing what we are calling the black screen of (temporary) death. The software glitch is annoying, but if you encounter it there is an easy fix: reboot.

At last count, Nokia had well over 50 exclusive apps or games in its Collection, giving Lumia owners a slight edge in features.

But that advantage may be no more, at least temporarily. According to Chinese site WPDang, there is a freshly spotted glitch in Windows Phone Store that could enable everyone to download exclusive apps from the Nokia Collection.

The "Windows Phone Store" is a pretty big concept. Instead of being one simple market available to all users equally and indifferently, it has countless facets intended for specific user groups and regions.

Depending on your OEM, carrier, geographic region, OS version, and size of RAM, the apps visible to you just won't be the same. When things get complicated in order to serve as many types of consumers as possible, the chance of stuff going wrong gets increased as well.

On November 16th we reported on an anomaly in the Windows Phone Store that was telling users they had to re-purchase apps they had already bought. The issue came into play for mainly people migrating to a new handset but not everyone. The issue was baffling and frustrating if you were setting up a new device because it meant you could not download any apps that you previously purchased (unless you wanted a double charge).

We had contacted Microsoft on the problem but we simply told “We are actively investigating this issue and will provide additional information as it becomes available." That was only after Windows Phone Support was unable to help others or us with our predicament.

It was just 4 days ago that Rovio updated Angry Birds Space and Angry Birds Star Wars for Windows Phone 8. Both games jumped to version 1.1 and at the time, we did not notice any changes in the games nor new features.

And on this Thanksgiving day, version 1.2 has rolled out for both games--hey, at least they're keeping them consistent! Once again to our untrained eye (we're not hardcore 'bird players around here) we don't see anything new--no new levels and they're still Windows Phone 8 only. But we suppose there are some important "fixes" that are necessary for the updates.

But there's also a potential problem...
