We all know that Nokia Lumias tend to record the best audio in addition to photos and video. That’s due to their inclusion of high-amplitude audio capture (HAAC) microphones on their various devices, including their entry level Lumias.

Indeed, the Lumia 1020 has three microphones (like the 920) all positioned for ideal recording, except now Nokia has enabled full stereo ability—a feature that will be coming to other 9xx Lumias in the future via an update.

Although many of are blown away by Nokia’s HAAC (high amplitude audio capture) microphones, which allow their Lumia line to record distortion-free audio (think of a rock concert), there was always one drawback that you may not have known about: mono.

Yup, despite having three microphones on board, the device only processed in mono sound, meaning even though it was distortion free it was still a step behind.

The Nokia Lumia 928 is arguably the worst kept secret in the world of Windows Phone handsets. We’ve known about it for quite some time and have pieces of its existence surface frequently. Such is the case from this video tipped to us by the mysterious 'Q'. We happen to like this video a lot because of the aforementioned band but also because it's shot well--no jumping, no unnecessary shaking. Once again, the Lumia 920 does a fantastic job capturing the wide dynamics of the lights and sound (although you can see the image sensor freak out a few times with the ultra-blue lights).

While we’ve shot video on the Nokia Lumia 920 a few times under somewhat ideal conditions e.g. quiet, well lit, there’s a good argument to be made that we haven’t seen too many “real world” examples.

From our Lumia 920 forums, member ‘mercilesskiller’ posted this YouTube video clip of a Seether concert at the Manchester Academy 2, Manchester UK. While the clip is only 58 seconds long and shot in 720P (the Lumia 920 can be bumped to 1080P), the result is quite stunning...
