ING Vysya Bank is a premier private sector bank, the seventh largest in India, with over two million customers across its 547 branches. The multinational bank based in Bangalore was formed by the purchase of an equity stake in Vysya Bank by the Dutch ING Group in 2002.

While Windows Phone users in India have been clamoring for apps from ICICI Bank, Axis Bank, and Citibank, ING Vysya trumped the other players launching their official Windows Phone app.

ING has released apps for Microsoft's platforms. Both Windows 8 and Windows Phone now sport an app that enables customers of the bank to log in and manage their account(s). Much like all other mobile banking applications, you can expect to see the usual list of features, including balance checking, transaction viewing and the transfer of money.

While we have a decent number of banking apps available for our Windows Phone.  You have Chase Mobile, Bank of America, the National Australian Bank, Rabobank and the more the merrier. I would appear that ING Bank is about to join the crowd with their own Windows Phone app this Spring.

In an email correspondence shared by one of our readers, ING has confirmed that a Windows Phone mobile banking app is in development. While details weren't shared on the features of such app, it is expected to be available mid-April.

Good news for ING customers and hopefully more financial institutions will follow suit (hint, hint Regions!). There's a Windows Phone Central Forums discussion going on here if you care to talk it up about the pending ING banking app.

Thanks, Prophecy, for the tip!

There have been numerous banking apps released for Windows Phone the past few weeks, but we've still not seen apps from other big names. ING Direct is one of said names that sports an app for iPhone, Blackberry and Android, but nothing for Windows Phone. Although there's nothing available, ING Direct does feature the Lumia 900 on the mobile website.

While it's nothing huge, it's good to see some exposure for Windows Phone, and let's face it: Windows Phone has the most attractive / unique UI to show off.
