While the Xbox One and other Microsoft products provide entertainment and functionality to make lives that little bit easier, the brains behind said tech also have the time to create some fairly awesome projects like the Cube. Not to be mistaken with the TV game show, the Cube is actually a virtual party, enabling folk to dance with one another using Kinect ad interacting with a virtual world.

Yesterday we brought you some unique insights into Xbox console games with new previews of Evil Within and Alien: Isolation for Xbox One and 360, FIFA 15 EA Access impressions, and an exclusive interview with the makers of TMNT: Danger of the Ooze. Now today is shaping up to be a day of not just reading about new games, but playing them…

Two new downloadable games have just launched on Xbox One! D4: Dark Dreams Don't Die from Access Games and Microsoft is now available for $14.99, and supports play with either the Kinect or a controller. Team17, maker of Worms Battlegrounds, has just published the lighthearted puzzle game Flockers for $24.99, or $18.49 for Xbox Live Gold members. Read on for links and impressions, plus a list of next week's releases!

Earlier this week we published a list of must-have accessories for Xbox One. Among those is the Kinect TV Mount for Xbox One from PDP. The mount not only positions the Kinect motion control accessory above a television, it also offers a privacy cover for the Kinect camera. Maybe you do things in front of your TV that you don't want Microsoft to see; we're not here to judge.

Having already recommended the Kinect TV Mount, it's high time that we give the Xbox One accessory a proper review. Will the mount take your Kinect experience to the next level, or will it snap apart during the set-up process? Read on and check out our hands-on video for the full word!

Last week we reviewed Dance Central Spotlight, the best Kinect game on Xbox One and also pretty much the ultimate dancing game. Spotlight is a downloadable game, but it will soon face increased competition at retail from Ubisoft's Just Dance 2015.

The latest in the Just Dance series will arrive at stores (and for download) on October 21 in North America and October 23 in Europe. The lead versions are Xbox One, Playstation 4, and Wii U, with previous-gen versions on the way as well. Which platform has the best sensor for full-body motion tracking? I think we all know.

The main reason to buy a new Just Dance game is that version's song list. Ubisoft has just helpfully announced the 2015 edition's full lineup. Let's see what variety it offers.

When the Xbox One launched last year with the Kinect peripheral included with every console, many gamers resisted the Kinect's inclusion. And why wouldn't they? The new Kinect had launched without what many consider the best Kinect game series on Xbox 360: Dance Central. That hole in the lineup has been filled now that Harmonix (maker of the upcoming Fantasia: Music Evolved) has unleashed Dance Central Spotlight exclusively as a downloadable Xbox One title.

Update Microsoft has issued the official announcement on the stand alone Kinect sensor for the Xbox One going on sale for $149.99, but with a slight date change to October 7. The company also says it will come with a code to download a free game, the upcoming Dance Central Spotlight from developer Harmonix.

Original story Ever since Microsoft decoupled the Kinect sensor from the Xbox One, the one lingering question was when would they sell it as a stand-alone unit? Offering an Xbox One without the Kinect sensor made financial sense in Microsoft's struggle against Sony, but it does not mean that people may never want to want to buy the Kinect at a later point. Until now though, there was no option to do so.

The Kinect is no longer as important to Microsoft's Xbox One plans as it used to be (neither of the Call of Duty nor Sunset Overdrive bundles will include it). The Xbox One launched without any compelling Kinect games (though we enjoyed Zumba Fitness World Party), and developers haven't been too eager to pick up the slack since then.

Luckily, Harmonix is on the case. The studio has two Kinect-specific Xbox One games in store for the fall: the downloadable Dance Central Spotlight and the retail Fantasia: Music Evolved (Xbox One and 360, published by Disney). Dance Central comes with built in-good will from Xbox 360 Kinect owners, but Fantasia is a more unknown property. To help get things moving, Disney has announced that Fantasia preorders will include a bundle of three bonus songs – including "Let it Go" as performed by Demi Lovato!

I feel so embarrassed right now. I've had the Xbox One for about 3 months, and I just learned that the Kinect microphone has been on while playing multiplayer games. I assumed that no one could hear me when the headset isn't connected. This means other people may have heard things that I didn't want them to hear. Don't make the same mistake. Turn off that Kinect microphone.

It's a rather humorous, albeit strange experience, but the latest Xbox One advertisement from Microsoft features Breaking Bad's Aaron Paul. That's not the strange part. Paul says the familiar phrase "Xbox On" towards the beginning of the clip, but it appears this verbal command is also having an impact on consoles in consumer homes as console owners have reported their own Xbox One booting up without their permission because of this advert.

Ubisoft is launching a new fitness game called Shape Up exclusively on Xbox One that will hopefully get you into better shape. The game uses Kinect's camera tech to project the user into the game, sort of like bringing a user into a virtual world. This way, Kinect isn't staring and leering at you in the hopes of making you feel guilty about being a couch potato.

Microsoft has commenced the selling of its Xbox One console without the Kinect sensor for $399.99 (£349.99) through its own stores in the UK and US. A similar configuration is expected to go on sale in other markets later today, bringing the rather controversial move by Microsoft to many gamers around the world. The company is looking to tackle Sony's lead in the console war by offering skeleton bundles at more affordable price points.

The second-generation of Kinect for Windows is coming this summer, but a select number of developers have early access. Those developers are working on cool experiences that will come with Kinect for Windows. We've seen Kinect used to treat patients in a variety of ways. One company, Jintronix, has just been granted FDA approval for their unique approach with Kinect.

Yesterday Microsoft broke my heart and the hearts of early Xbox One adopters around the world. In case you missed it, Microsoft announced a Kinect-less version of the Xbox One will be offered for $399. That’s $100 cheaper than the current Xbox One SKU. That Xbox One sans Kinect will be available on June 9th in all regions where the Xbox One is already available. That bright future of the Kinect with the Xbox One that Microsoft promised last summer is now dead.
