When it comes to PC gaming, laptops tend to be chunky and heavy machines that are nothing near portable. While we have seen competitors try to battle Dell’s Alienware subsidy with thinner machines, such as Razer’s Blade notebook, nothing can seem to hit the right balance of power, portability, and price. Gigabyte intends to help change that with their latest gaming machine, the Aorus X7.

Sony's line of VAIO Flip PCs are a very interesting and beautiful concept for the future of Windows 8 computers. They appear to be Ultrabooks, but have a latch that releases the screen and allows the display to flip 180 degrees backward on a fulcrum. This year at CES 2014, Sony has just introduced a new addition to the lineup – the VAIO Fit 11A Flip PC.

Vizio is better known for their HD televisions and sound bars than their selection of Windows PCs, but it is seen as no surprise considering they only jumped into the game two years ago. Their last selection of machines where simple and beautiful, while at the same time lacking the refinement and careful engineering that would really make them solid machines.

This year at CES, the company is having another go and have introduced their new Thin + Light machines.

Just in time for the holiday season, Dell has announced a few new additions to its line of PCs. Typically Inspiron has served as the company’s budget line of machines, but with these latest editions, Dell is going above and beyond to make budget seem premium for Windows 8.

The first introduction is a selection of new Inspiron 7000 series laptops. Typically, Inspiron units have been made from plastic, but not this time; this time, the 7000 series is made of “forged aluminum” and features “diamond-cut beveled edges”. According to Dell, the 14-inch model that measures in at .6 inches is 27% than its predecessor. The 15 inch and 17 inch models are just as impressive, coming in at .9 inches and 1.1 inches respectively (Remember, these are budget machines).

ASUS has launched (and will be launching) multiple products that run Windows RT / 8. A family of laptops branded under the VivoBook umbrella, the S200 and S400, are solutions for those who require a light, thin notebook that sport touch screens and all the bells and whistles for Windows 8. We recently invested in an S400 to see what all the fuss is about with this mid-range notebook. We must admit - we're pleased with the experience on offer.

Two tablets -- erm, laptops -- one epic video. Microsoft obviously is throwing its full weight behind its reimagination of Surface, which is coming in the form of a Windows 8 hybrid that runs the best of the Windows of yesterday in a form factor for tomorrow.
