To avoid the risk of electrocution, Microsoft Mobile, formerly Nokia's devices group, has issued a recall of the travel charging kit for the Lumia 2520 tablet. The kit has charging prongs for the U.S., U.K., EU, and Australia. According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission in the U.S., "the plastic cover on the charger's exchangeable plugs can come loose and separate, exposing internal components that pose an electrocution hazard if touched while the plug remains in a live socket."

We've been alerted to an email being sent out with a code for anyone who was affected and registered with the support system. As well as sending out replacement chargers for the Windows tablet (and offering the voucher), Nokia is asking consumers return the original chargers in supplied packaging.

Nokia is temporarily halting sales of its Lumia 2520 tablet in several countries due to a risk of electric shock when using the chargers. An issue with the plastic exchangeable plug could cause the plug to come loose and separate on the European and U.K. version of the Lumia's AC-300 charger, which poses a risk of electric shock. Nokia notes that there haven't been any confirmed instances of shocks delivered by a faulty charger, but they're still urging consumers to stop using those chargers until Nokia is able to send a replacement.
