You might not know this, but before I was 110% Windows Phone I had a thing for Blackberry. Specifically the Curve 8320. That’s because it had one feature in a smartphone that I absolutely needed back then – Wi-Fi calling. If you’re a Windows Phone fan and hoping to get a phone with Wi-Fi calling you might want to check out the Nokia Lumia 521.

The Nokia Lumia 521 continues to spread across the country. After a quick and successful start on Walmart's and Home Shopping Network's websites, the Lumia 521 will be coming to Walmart brick and mortar stores this Saturday, May 11, for a measly $129. The Microsoft Store will also start selling it this weekend.

Less than two weeks after that, on May 22, the Lumia 521 will start appearing on shelves at T-Mobile stores and on their website for less than $150 with qualifying plans.

The Lumia 521 from Nokia is on sale on the Walmart website for just $129.99, but has sold out almost immediately. The deal was covered on SlickDeals with subsequent updates that the online store reported the Windows Phone to be out of stock. The Lumia 521 is proving to be a popular device indeed.

Microsoft and Nokia are planning to tackle the smartphone market and hit hard with new low-end hardware, according to a report by Reuters. With multiple high-end products from Nokia, HTC, and Samsung already available, the company is now looking at the cheaper price points that attract a large portion of consumers. The Lumia 521 is such a Windows Phone that Microsoft hopes will win over the minds of consumers.

Yesterday we mentioned that T-Mobile had announced that the Nokia Lumia 521 would be available through HSN.com on April 27th as a part of HSN's Innovation Weekend.

Well... apparently someone over at HSN.com started the weekend a little early. The T-Mobile Lumia 521 is now available over at HSN.com for $149.95 with free shipping and bundled with a car charger and screen protector. Flex payments of $37.49 are also available.

While early reports had the Nokia Lumia 521 launch over at T-Mobile on April 24th, that date has come and gone with no new Windows Phone in sight. The reason, T-Mobile will now launch the Lumia 521 on April 27th during HSN.com's Innovation Weekend.  You'll need to check local listings for showtimes.

The Windows Phone 8 device will be bundled with a car charger and screen protector during the event for $149.99 with free shipping with a flex pay option available.

As a follow up to our earlier report about the T-Mobile Lumia 810 becoming unavailable for purchase (unless you want a refurb), we can confirm now that it has indeed been EOL’d (end of life) on the carrier.

It is instead being replaced by the not-so-bad Lumia 521, which also gets a release date for Wednesday, April 24th.

T-Mobile seems to be stoking the fires of their Windows Phone fans as the Lumia 521, their “custom” variant of the entry-level Lumia 520, is evidently nearing release.

In a tersely worded press release, T-Mobile announced that the phone will be coming in May and it will be available at Walmart, Microsoft Stores and of course T-Mobile locations for purchase. No pricing nor exact release date was given, but they will be forthcoming soon.

With all of the news this morning we let this one fall through the cracks: T-Mobile has picked up the Lumia 520, but as a 521 variant (they always have to be different). There’s no official date or pricing for the device, but we don’t believe it will be too long before the carrier picks it up, probably for $0 on contract or below $200 off contract.

The Lumia 521 fits in with T-Mobile’s plan to move towards non-subsidized phones, where the users buys their own flat out and then pays monthly for the service. In order to do that though they presumably need some good, but affordable deices: enter Nokia.
