The Nokia Lumia 925 is a unique Windows Phone in that the chassis design differs from the usual Lumia polycarbonate cases. Sporting an aluminium side, the Lumia 925 is a premium Windows Phone 8, which will be updated with the 8.1 (aka 'Blue') update when released. This makes it both future proof and a superb catch when a special offer is published.

Cue Newegg where consumers can pick up the Lumia 925 for just $289.

There’s a good chance you’ve used Newegg sometime with the past ten years if you’ve built your own computer. Or at least checked the site out while doing some online shopping for computer hardware, electronics, or software. Because, once you know, you Newegg (or so they say). Anyways, the app for Windows Phone picked up a nice update two days back. Let’s check it out.

Newegg.com, the one-stop place for all computer geeks and nerds, is one of our top official apps on the platform. It’s always been well designed and even has some unique features, like the ‘time machine’ feature added to the last update.

Version 1.4 is now live in the Store, and although it’s not a huge update, it’s important enough for HTC 8X and ATIV S users out there, as you can now finally take advantage of the full-resolution support it brings. The latest update also brings some more “bug fixes” but the main take away here is the WP8 support.

Online tech superstore Newegg has updated their official Windows Phone app to version 1.1 and added some pretty nice features. One major addition to v1.1 is live tile support.  Newegg "Shell Shocker" deal notifications can now be pushed right to your start screen. The ability to view your order history has also been added, as well as an update to the checkout process.  Version 1.1 also brings some minor bug fixes along with it.

The official Newegg app sports a handsome, easy to use Metro-style interface and gives you full access to everything they have to offer.  If you are a geek, and you don't know about Newegg, do yourself a favor and check it out pronto!

You can get Newegg's official app here in the Marketplace for free.

Thanks for the heads up, Shipwreck!

The Nokia Lumia 800 is available to order from Newegg, for just $549.99, which isn't a bad price at all for an unlocked mid-range Windows Phone. The handset sports a 1.4Ghz processor, 8MP camera (with Carl Zeiss optics), 16GB storage, and a 3.7" AMOLED screen with Clear Black technology.

Check out our full review of the Lumia 800 for more detail. As a bonus, a limited offer is currently available that will see the purchase of the 800 being accompanied by a Bluetooth accessory.

Newegg.com--it's a geek's dream. It's also where we all go to build our own PC. Between their fast shipping, low prices, individual parts and even being tax-free here in New York (they're in Jersey, ahem), what's not to love about this place? Well, up until this morning you could have said they don't have a Windows Phone app. But now, my nerd friends, they do and it's great--smooth, slick and smartly laid out.

The app is Mango-ready out the gate, allows you to access your account and all your shopping right from your phone. But really, you want it for the ease of browsing their daily deals, right? Other notable features:

  • Comprehensive product specifications.
  • 1.7+ millions customer reviews.
  • Detailed item image gallery
  • Quick and simple shopping flow.
  • Simple and quick search function.
  • Search by category
  • Guided search
  • Advanced search
  • Sorting
  • Good for deal hunting: Shell Shockers, Daily Deals and Free Shipping.
  • All purchases made on Newegg Mobile are routed through Newegg's secure servers.

Sure, it has no Live Tile or pinnable subsections, so there's room for improvement. But as for the basics, we're giving it a thumbs up. Pick it up here for free in the Marketplace. Thanks, Ryan S., for the tip!

What, was one penny too much for you? Or perhaps like us, you live in New York and have to pay Amazon Wireless sales tax (but not for NewEgg) and you just like their deal better.

Whatever your reason, NewEgg, hands down one of our favorite online retailers, is offering select AT&T Windows Phone on contract for free. Zip. Nada. Nothing. You even have your choice of plans, including the low AT&T 450 minute version (sometimes place like WalMart try to force you up to the higher 900 minute plan).

Phones included in the deal (these are the actual links): the Samsung Focus, LG Quantum and yes, the HTC Surround. Sounds like a good deal, but like all things, read the fine print.
