GSMA today unveiled winners of the 19th Annual Global Mobile awards, held at this year's Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The ceremony itself was hosted by British actor and comedian James Corden. It's news to us all as Nokia came away with multiple awards.

With the company announcing a new family of Android products, alongside a new plan of action to increase the adoption rate of Windows Phone, it's positive to see Nokia be named in the ceremony.

Nokia releases its financial report for Q4 2013, showing a decline in Lumia sales before passing the baton to Microsoft

While both the media and consumers wait patiently for Microsoft to inevitably absorb Nokia's devices and services division, the Finnish company today published its Q4 2013 financial report. This latest report paints a rather bleak image of its Lumia family of Windows Phones. Simply put, Nokia (and Microsoft as both the operating system developer and financial partner) had a bad period to close off 2013. That said, it's not all negative and the Nokia we should see after the Microsoft deal will be a profitable company.

Nokia may well be looking to score a $200 million deal with the Indian arm of UK mobile operator Vodafone. The Solutions and Networks (NSN) arm of the Finnish company would be tasked with upgrading Vodafone's 2G and 3G networks in the region. This is another large partnership for Nokia, so soon after news hit the media that Microsoft is seeking to buy the company's devices division.

Nokia has completed the acquisition of Nokia Siemens Networks, eliminating Siemens' stake in the then joint-venture. Nokia now owns the company and has altered the branding to Nokia Solutions and Networks (NSN - www.nsn.com). As well as the name alteration, there have been a handful of changes on the board of directors, but NSN will continue to operate with and be consolidated by Nokia. The price? A previous Nokia statement reported it as 1.7 billion euros.
