oggl pro

Things have been quiet on the Hipstamatic Oggl front for a few weeks now. The last time we saw an update for the popular photography-filter app was November 19th, which brought with it some fixes and support for 512 MB devices—no small accomplishment.

Today, version 1.2.1.155 rolls out for Oggl and Oggl Pro (Lumia 1020 version) and seeing as that is only an increase from 1.2.0.150, we’re guessing this is some tidying up and minor fixes from the last update.

It’s been over a month since we’ve seen an update for Hipstamatic’s Oggl and Oggl Pro on Windows Phone. The app was notable for many thing. Beyond being its own insular social network, it also allowed for users to “officially” upload images to Instagram on Windows Phone. Initial performance and usability of the app was mediocre, but the Hipstamatic team has been working hard since launch on updates. Today we’re finally getting some more, let’s check them out.

Hipstamatic has been relentless in their support for Windows Phone. Their Oggl and Oggl Pro apps for Windows Phone launched earlier this summer alongside the Nokia Lumia 1020. When they initially came out, performance and features were lacking a bit. Constant updates have improved the apps to more than adequate. Let’s check out what’s new in the latest update for Oggl and Oggl Pro.

Oggl and Oggl Pro updated, you can now share to Tumblr

Hipstamatic has been putting out frequent updates to their Oggl and Oggl Pro applications and that’s something we can get behind. The apps launched in June for Windows Phone, but was met with questionable performance and bugs. The team at Hipstamatic and Oggl haven’t once rested on their laurels, with updates to both bugs and performances coming out at very frequent intervals. Today both Oggl and Oggl Pro receive updates. Let’s check them out.

The addition of Hipstamatic’s Oggl and Oggl Pro to the Windows Phone Store was welcomed by community. The app was first announced back in May and finally joined the platform after the launch of the Nokia Lumia 1020 in the United States.

Two versions exist, Oggl and Oggl Pro, with the latter a special edition of the app going to users on the Lumia 1020. Performance was sluggish at first, but has slowly been improving with a fairly constant stream of updates. What’s the latest update bring?

Hipstamatic’s Oggl and Oggl Pro have been highly anticipated apps since their announcement in May. However, when they launched a month ago both apps received mixed reviews. You wanted to love them and use them, but performance issues hampered that desire. Since then both apps have been receiving fairly regular updates to address the shortcomings. Let’s see what’s new in the latest update for both Oggl and Oggl Pro.

Yesterday we reported on the new improved version of Hipstamatic’s Oggl photo app for Windows Phone 8. We noted how the app has had a rough start but with this latest update (version 1.0.0.5) it has become significantly better. At the time, we pointed out that Oggl Pro (the version for the Lumia 1020) had yet to receive its update, but we expected it soon.

Now, version 1.0.0.5 of that app is available to download and like Oggl basic, it has a nice robust changelog and yes, those much needed speed improvements. It’s not a one to one changelog though as some fixes are specific to the Pro version.

So what’s new?

Hipstamatic Oggl and Oggle Pro both launched last Friday. The apps were teased to come to Windows Phone back in May at the Nokia event in London. Since then, many of you in the community anxiously waited for them. When they did come out on Friday they were met with mixed impressions. We love getting big apps in the Store, but they were very much first versions of the app. The latest update today addresses a variety of those issues. Let’s check them out.

With the recent "security changes" from Instagram, causing all third party apps from being blocked from posting, we figured we’d recap at least two ways that we know of that still work. Think of these as your permanent fail-safes in case this is a prolonged outage or as a temporary solution until Daniel Gary (Instance) and others figure out a way around the problem.

To recap, using apps like Instance allows users to post to their Instagram account, but after about fifteen seconds, the image is deleted. That means somehow Instagram has flagged images uploaded by unauthorized apps in a clever way that has befuddled developers so far. But you can still post via other apps—one official, the other a hack.

If you tried the recently released Oggl photo app (for all Windows Phone 8 devices) or Oggl PRO (Nokia Lumia 1020), you may have had some mixed results from posting your creations. For instance, we noticed when we’d dual post to Instagram and Twitter, the Twitter submission would only have an Oggl link but omit our accompanying written text. Others have reported login in problems, failed submissions and an overall “meh” experience.

Luckily, Hipstamatic’s Oggl apps appear to be on the fast track for bug fixes and feature additions.  Version 1.0.0.2 for the regular Oggl app is now live and version 1.0.0.2 for the PRO variation. No changelog for either, which is a downer.

During Nokia’s Lumia 925 event back in May it was revealed that Hipstamatic Oggl (hipstamatic.com/oggl) would be coming exclusively to Lumia Windows Phones, allowing the more serious photographer out there to share their images on the Hipstamatic network.

Previously available only on iOS and powered by filters and lenses, the potent photo network also allows users to post directly to Instagram via a deal reached with the company in mid-2012.  Besides Instagram, Facebook and Twitter support are also included.

Now with the Nokia Lumia 1020 officially released today on AT&T, Oggl (for Windows Phone 8 Lumias) and Oggl Pro (for the Lumia 1020) will be available today as well.

We first heard of Hipstamatic bringing their popular Oggl app to Windows Phone back in May. It was supposed to launch alongside the Nokia Lumia 925, but that didn’t happen. At least not with the European release of the Lumia 925. Instead, we’re getting Oggl Pro with the newly announced Nokia Lumia 1020. If you aren’t familiar with Oggl, you’ll know why the two are a good match. Photos and video after the break.
