I'm a fan of traditional stick shooter + wave games. There's something with anticipating what's coming next, and the classic arcade feel of enemy hordes attacking you that I find satisfying. RED. is a new game from Knife Media in Cape Town, South Africa. It runs for $2.99 with a free trial, but that $2.99 is for both the Windows Phone 8 and Windows 8 versions. Buy once, buy everywhere. Shout-out for Windows universal apps!

RED. has some impressive 2D/3D graphics, comic book design and one hell of a sense of humor. Toss in some gratuitous gore, and I'll buy it.

While not the most earth shattering news, the 6-inch Nokia Lumia 1520 has now showed up in a press render in red via the Twitter account @evleaks. It sort of brings things around full circle as the very first actual photo of the massive Nokia phablet was revealed in that color back at the end of August.

Since that time we’ve learned that the price, off-contract, will be north of $700 and that it will actually come in four colors: red, black, white and yellow (sorry, cyan fans). Featuring a reported 6-inch 1080P display, Snapdragon 800 CPU, 3400 mAh battery, 32GB of storage with expandable memory and a 20 MP PureView camera, the 1520 should shake things up a bit for Nokia.

Last week, Windows Phone Central reported on firmware being visible on Nokia’s servers for the Lumia 928 disclosing a “red” edition with a new product code: RM-860 VAR VRZ RED (059R227). At the time, the speculation seems to point to an obvious conclusion: Verizon and Nokia were gearing up for a red Lumia 928 to help refresh the line.

Now, an image posted by Nokia US on their Facebook page appears to reveal the glossy, candy-red device for the first time. The image posted was not meant to highlight a red Lumia 928, but instead bolster the chemical testing process Nokia uses to ensure that the polycarbonate they use holds up under duress.

By all accounts, the Nokia Lumia 928 on Verizon, an exclusive variant of the 92x series, is doing quite well. Verizon has steadily picked up Windows Phone market share in the US, mostly at the expense of AT&T and it helped bring a flagship Nokia device to one of the most important carriers in the States.

Currently, the Lumia 928 is only offered in glossy White or Black and while the device has a solid specification list, it could stand to be spiced up a bit in the looks department. That’s why the 1328 OS ROM spotted on NaviFirm Plus with the label RM-860 VAR VRZ RED (059R227) has piqued our interest. The other two versions, both white and black, are already listed but that Red variant and product code is something new.

For well over a year now there have been murmurings and rumors that Nokia is working on a Windows 8 tablet with little to show for it. We have seen leaked images in the past and most recently, a late September date has been suggested as the announcement timeframe (Nokia is evidently planning an event in New York City).

Now, two images have come forth showing what is reportedly a Verizon-branded Nokia tablet with Windows 8.1 RT on board. The device appears to be labelled with “RT” suggesting that this is not a full Windows 8 Pro tablet, though there are too many caveats here to reach any firm conclusions. For instance, could Nokia have both RT and Pro devices both being tested as options for carriers and retail channels?

If you are a Windows Phone fan, there is a good chance you are a fan of vibrant colors. I myself am a lover of the color red and keep my vibrant Nokia Lumia 920 on me at all times. Today, Sony has announced a new addition of ruby red Windows PCs. For those wondering, the brightly colored machines are not a part of the (RED) ™ charity.

Rumor: AT&T getting a red Nokia Lumia 1020?

It’s still early in the morning so we don’t know if the leakster site @evleaks is teasing us or actually has a lead on a fourth color variant for the Nokia Lumia 1020, in candy red.

The image shows up on the famous Twitter feed with the caption “A dream or .... ?”. Now for the record, @evleaks has a history of nailing leaks and not a reputation for humor, so we’re inclined to believe there is some truth to it.

We’ve known for a little while that the upcoming Lumia ‘EOS’, Nokia’s first foray into a massive-shooter for Windows Phone, will come in the same color lineup as the current 920 that it is based off of. Yesterday we saw the phone in black but we know yellow and other variants are available too.

Now a new image has leaked of what looks to be the EOS in a glossy red finish. This isn’t the full phone, of course, but rather just the polycarbonate shell which is evidently in early production tests in some Nokia factory.

Huawei evidently is banking on all colors for their upcoming 4.3” Ascend W2, due sometime this summer with what we imagine is a Windows Phone 8 hardware and software (GDR2) refresh.

We’ve previously seen the mid to high range device in Blue and Yellow, so why not add Red to the mix? At this point, we’re more curious about what colors they won’t do as we know Black and White is probably a given as well.  (Can we get a Green up in this hizzy?)

A non-working, magenta Lumia 900 for Italian Nokia stores

For a few months now we've been teasing the Magenta variant of the Nokia Lumia 900. We first reported that it was scheduled for a Mother's Day release, which would have seen appropriate but alas that never came to be. Since then we've seen the Magenta device show up worldwide a few times including Nokia's own Facebook page but it has yet to be released anywhere.

Now, if you load up NaviFirm Plus and check Nokia's servers, you'll see a Magenta ROM for the Lumia 900 looking pretty. The listed file name is RM-808 VAR ATT MAGENTA (059N3B9) and it corresponds with the same ROM and firmware available for the current cyan, matte black and glossy white versions already available on AT&T.

A snapshot from Navifirm clearly showing a Magenta Lumia 900 ROM for AT&T

While there is no word on availability we're going to take this as a major sign that AT&T is gearing up for its release and it is rather close too.

A non-working, magenta Lumia 900 for Italian Nokia stores

Although the rumored Magenta Lumia 900 never materialized on AT&T for Mother's day there is still plenty of evidence that the pink legend exists and someone will be getting it soon. Whether it's from Nokia's own Facebook page, a Finnish online retailer or Australia, the magenta 900 is certainly on the horizon.

Now, magenta "dummy" phones have begun appearing at Italian Nokia stores suggesting that Italy may be one of the first areas to get the device. No word on availability of anything else for that matter, just the above picture of one.

Our guess is Nokia still working to fulfill orders on the cyan, matte-black and glossy-white versions and ramping up production for magenta is taking some time. Hopefully though we'll see it soon enough here in the US and elsewhere.

We've reported in the past that AT&T was rumored to be getting a magenta (red, fuchsia, pink etc) Nokia Lumia 900 on Sunday, May 13th right in time for Mother's Day.

Since that report we've had a sighting in a Microsoft Store (since removed) and Nokia's Facebook page (also since removed).

The image above clearly shows once and for all that a magenta Lumia 900 does indeed exist. What's more, those in Finland will evidently have the honors of  being one of the first regions to get their hands on it.

The retail site Gigantti has the phone listed with the SKU NOKLUMIA900MA with a release slated for an unspecified day in, you guessed it, May.

The phone is up for pre-order now but who knows how long it will be up since last we checked, Nokia has not made an official announcement on such a color being offered. Of course knowing that the Lumia 800 comes in that color choice, it's not much of a stretch to see its bigger brother get the red treatment as well.

So AT&T, your move.

We first reported that a Magenta Lumia 900 may be headed to AT&T for a Mother's Day release back on March 27th. Since then we had a sighting of what looks to a bare reddish pink Lumia 900 in a Microsoft Store on April 13th via in-screen advertising (interestingly, we're told that image was replaced with a glossy-white since we ran that story).

Now Nokia themselves seem to be getting in on the Magenta Lumia 900 action as they have it listed as a color option for the device right ont their Facebook page.

Eagle-eyed reader Michael L. noticed it on the social-network's Lumia 900 demo page, which allows you to toy play with a virtual Windows Phone OS. On that page, you have your Matte-Black, Cyan and Glossy-White color choices but low and behold, there is also mysterious and alluring Magenta.

While a reddish hued Lumia 900 would not be an earth-shattering decision, after all the Lumia 800 has that choice, up till now there has not been an announced Magenta variant for the 900-series.

Seeing as AT&T is the premier launch partner for this device and our earlier tip that a Mother's Day version was planned for release (it also falls on a release-day for the carrier), we're liking the odds of this happening come May.

Would you get a magenta Lumia 900 for yourself or a loved one? Hit us up on comments.

Magenta Nokia Lumia 900 pictured for AT&T

We posted a little while ago that there may be a Magenta Lumia 900 for AT&T in the works, specifically a tie-in with Mother's Day which falls on Sunday, May 13th. Sunday's are also AT&T release days.

In a Microsoft store, one of our readers Clyde V. noticed this Lumia 900 emblazoned with the AT&T logo displayed on one of the demo screens advertising the new Nokia phone. Now at first we were cautious as tossing on one of Nokia's skin tight Magenta cases can also cause any 900 to look like that bold red color. But upon closer inspection this really does not seem to sporting a case (we'll let you decide though).

We know the Lumia 800 came in white and a glossy white 900 followed soon thereafter (coming to AT&T on April 22nd). And we know the Lumia 800 comes in Magenta, so a red-pink Lumia 900 seems hardly a stretch for them. Anyone waiting to see what happens?

Thanks, Anon, for the image!

Nokia planning Green and Red Lumia 800?

A new video has been spotted created by AdContentMedia featuring the Nokia Luna Bluetooth Headset. And while that headset is itself pretty darn awesome what is really eye catching are those two new colors for the Lumia 800: Red and Green.

While we've seen fuchsia/magenta/pink before and we all know cyan and black, but green and red have not been shown off before and it remains to be seen if they are actually planned or just concepts at this point. Nokia has certainly experimented with other colors as described in yesterday's article on the subject and we've heard of yellow, green and white before back in December. Of course since that December interview, the white Lumia 800 (and maybe even a white 900) have come forward.

We'll throw this in the "sure, why not?" camp as we know Nokia like their colors and it would make sense for them to extend those offerings if the Lumia line keeps selling well. Personally, we're pretty excited about green and would love to see that infused in some polycarbonate goodness from our Nokia friends. What do you think?

[Edit: As pointed out in comments, these could also be soft-shell cases which have nearly the same color offerings, though it would have been more efficient to advertise that fact. Still, it's plausible]

Check the video after the break and catch the new colors at about 0:40 and onward.

I770 coming to Verizon...hopefully

Verizon may be getting blessed with Samsung's i770, given the spy shot from Engadget. As you can see the picture is a bit blurry and grainy. To us "blurry and grainy" equals new model. If indeed it is a finished i770, it looks to be rocking the lovely Windows Mobile Pro 6.1 with a sophisticated red shell. This one could be a competitor to the Samsung Blackjack II already on At&t
