Microsoft launched Office for iPad nearly two weeks ago. Now iPad owners can enjoy view Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents. Have (or obtain as Microsoft would like) an Office 365 subscription and you’re able to not just view documents, but edit them as well. The apps have seen over 12 million downloads since launch. The Office for iPad team just wrapped up an AMA on Reddit where they shared a lot of interesting facts about the product. Highlights from the Q&A below.

Reddit (www.reddit.com) likes to call itself the 'front page of the internet'; it is a place where anyone on the World Wide Web can gather together to share content. The content is sorted into various “Subreddits” and then is voted upon by “up” or “down” buttons. Essentially, Reddit is an online news and entertainment source with user curated submissions that are voted upon by the community.

If you have even opened a web browser since June of 2005, when the site originally launched, then we have to assume that you have probably used Reddit or at the very least, visited it. Today, we are going to take a look at different ways to visit Reddit through some of our favorite Windows 8 apps available in the Windows Store.

We’re always on the hunt for great apps across Windows Phone and Windows 8. We find that the Windows Phone Store has had a longer time to mature than the Windows Store. Which is why it’s easier for us to find high quality apps on Windows Phone, but more time is probably needed for the Windows Store to see killer apps in higher numbers. Reddit! is one of those higher quality Windows 8 app. With Reddit! you can browse the popular online community. Let’s check it out.

When it comes to browsing Reddit on Windows Phone we love using Readit. It’s relatively new app, launching just a few months back. It blew us away with its design, feature set, and usability. Like all apps, it had a few shortcomings, namely performance issues, but those have since been addressed with updates. Speaking of updates, Readit for Windows Phone just picked one up. Let’s check out what’s new and different in this massive update for Readit.

Every year around this time, Redditors (members of the site Reddit.com) gather around their computers and prepare to share gifts through a gift exchange for the holidays. Surprises are always popping up and this year was no exception; Electronic Arts donated a collection of games to one happy Redditor and another found out their personal Santa Clause was none other than Bill Gates.

Editor's Choice for best Reddit client

We’re big fans of Reddit (reddit.com). It provides hours of entertainment, knowledge and general distractions for life. So far, our favorite client for Windows Phone has been the powerful Baconit, a superb demonstration of Windows Phone coding that also makes using Reddit a breeze. We also really enjoy Baconography, another fantastic offering.

However, today, we have what is arguably the most striking Reddit client yet: Readit, from Message Across Studios. We’re not going to pull any punches here: Readit’s design is one of the top we’ve seen for any Windows Phone app, let alone one dedicated for Reddit. You can toss it up there with 627.am, Simple Calendar, Vieather and anything by Rudy Huyn. (Actually, we know why we like it, as it reminds us very much of Amazon’s Kindle app.).

Watch our video review below and see why it’s so great.

A handful of engineers on the Windows 8.1 team just wrapped up an AMA on Reddit. As you may or may not know, AMA stands for “ask me anything” and serves as a question and answer session. The team spent time answering questions from the community on everything from their favorite Windows apps to whether or not we’d see a book store in the Windows ecosystem. We’ve grabbed the highlights from the AMA for you to peruse down below.

Grin is the best Imgur app for Windows Phone 8

If you’re a frequent user of Reddit then you won’t need much of an introduction to Imgur. The online image hosting service exploded in users, photos, and popularity as both Digg and Reddit grew over the past few years. They don’t have an official app for Windows Phone users, but this is one of those scenarios where a third-party developer rises to the occasion and we can’t see an official app being any better. Let’s check out Grin for Windows Phone 8.

File under fun. Like most of you, we spend a lot of time staring at some screens throughout the day. Typically our Windows Phone device and computer are the ones that get the most action. You love the look and feel of Windows Phone and get that same familiarity in Windows 8. But what about in the wild web? You don’t have much control over how a site looks. Or do you?

If you want to make your web browsing experience on the desktop a little more like Windows Phone check out the following extensions for Chrome. Yes, Chrome, mostly because Internet Explorer doesn’t support add-ons/extensions at the moment like Chrome does. We’ll be making Reddit and the general web a little more “Metro”.

When you need your fix of cats, WTF, and bacon you head to Reddit. We don’t have an official Reddit app on Windows Phone, but we’ve got some really good third party apps. Baconit is the reigning champ when it comes to getting Reddit on your Windows Phone. Newcomer Baconography doesn’t exactly look to challenge it, instead offering a slightly different take on the Reddit experience. Let’s check it out.

My homeboy, William Henry Gates III, started Microsoft back in the mid-1970s. While he stepped down from full-time work over 6 years ago, he’s still Chairman and all around badass. Right now if you mosey on over to Reddit he is doing an AMA – mostly about his current work with the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation, but he’s also fielding Microsoft related questions. Bill also posted a video asking a few typical questions before hand, check it out after the break.
