render

The Nokia Lumia 525 has been making headlines lately and now the popular leakster Twitter profile @evleaks has once again joined in the fun by releasing the above render of the device. The image shows the handset in white, yellow and orange. While both pricing and availability are yet to be announced (as well as the Lumia 525 itself), these are positive signs if we're to look back at the run-up to previous hardware announcements.

While not the most earth shattering news, the 6-inch Nokia Lumia 1520 has now showed up in a press render in red via the Twitter account @evleaks. It sort of brings things around full circle as the very first actual photo of the massive Nokia phablet was revealed in that color back at the end of August.

Since that time we’ve learned that the price, off-contract, will be north of $700 and that it will actually come in four colors: red, black, white and yellow (sorry, cyan fans). Featuring a reported 6-inch 1080P display, Snapdragon 800 CPU, 3400 mAh battery, 32GB of storage with expandable memory and a 20 MP PureView camera, the 1520 should shake things up a bit for Nokia.

Nokia is expected to unveil quite a few new devices next month in UAE for what may be their final Nokia World. Whether it is the Lumia 1520 or their tablet, the rumored Lumia 2520, Nokia is sure to have a great show.

One of those items due for release will be the Bluetooth charm called ‘Treasure Tag’. The item will reportedly work with Bluetooth 4.0 LE devices and allow users to track things like keys, bags or whatever it is attached too. NFC will be on board too for quick and easy pairing. As the Verge reported earlier this summer, the device will have a button on it to ID phones that it is attached to and its battery should last 6 months while always being on.

Now that we know Nokia is going to be revealing their latest entry-level challenger, the Lumia 625, tomorrow in London and we know the specs, we just need to see it more in all of its bright glory.

The Twitter leaker @evleaks has just posted this press render of the soon-to-be announced Lumia 625, showing it off in its various colors including red, yellow, white, black and a super bright green.

As we get closer and closer to Thursday, it is probably of little surprise that more information is coming out about Nokia’s 41MP Windows Phone, the Lumia 1020. The device, which has gone by the codename ‘Elvis’ on AT&T and ‘EOS’ in general, is expected to be Nokia’s biggest splash yet in mobile photography since the PureView 808, but this time with the power of Windows Phone behind it.

In the new render above, you can clearly see an unbranded Nokia Lumia 1020 in yellow, along with three other 1020’s in yellow, black and white with the 41MP camera exposed. Featuring a Xenon and LED flash, a massive camera sensor (and $70 optional camera grip accessory), the Lumia 1020 should give photo buffs a new dream phone for everyday use.

We can also confirm a few more tidbits about this phone before the reveal…

Evleaks, who is fairly accurate when it comes to leaked renders of upcoming Windows Phone hardware, has published the above render on Twitter. It's believed to be the Huawei Ascend W2, a more advanced successor to the Ascend W1. We've previously looked at the Ascend W2 and how previous reports suggested it was going to be the thinnest Windows Phone yet, but this is the first we've seen of this design.

Don’t get us wrong, we know for a fact that this is just a render of a Lumia 900 mashed with the 808 Pureview (back) with an E7 keyboard thrown in. After all, if you’re building your dream phone, why not go all out, right?

The image comes from a Chinese website (http://product.cnmo.com) and it’s actually listed in the database, including specs and everything.

A new patent has been found for a Nokia Windows Phone. What's more is that the design looks familiar. In fact, we've seen this particular design before in a render. Filed back in December 2011, concept images of the device were leaked prior to that in August, which was before the Lumia 800 - Nokia's first Windows Phone was even announced.

Leave it to perpetual leaker @Evleaks on Twitter to post an image of the upcoming Verizon Nokia Lumia 822.

We’ve seen the device before and have heard some negative feedback from those who are disappointed that it’s not the 920, but you have to admit the device looks nice in white—albeit in this tiny render.

The device features a 4.3” screen with wireless charging built in and is rumored to fetch for just $50 on contract. That’s not a bad deal though we’re hoping Verizon goes “big” with a flagship Nokia phone in the near future.

The latest rumor pins Verizon’s WP8 release schedule sometime in November, possible between the 6th and the 12th.

Although we’ve already seen actual photos of the Ascend W1 from Huawei, which were leaked last week, we guess seeing a render is also somewhat interesting.

The Ascend W1 is due out sometime next year and that should give Huawei ample time to further copy HTC and Nokia to make this phone just right. Seriously, we don’t mean to rant here but between the cyan color, the 2D glass and the 100% lifting of the HTC One X’s camera housing, Huawei is doing nothing for their reputation as a copycat firm.

Of course we think the device might actually be nice to use---after all if you go through and pick and choose the best of everything, how can you go wrong?

The Orbit is now the 'Render' on US Cellular

Here's some odd Friday night news and we’re kind of truly blown away it. Evidently, ZTE has managed to score a carrier for one of their Windows Phones, specifically US Cellular.

The ZTE Render, which many of you will know as the Orbit from awhile back, features a CDMA chipset with EVDO (Rev A?), a 1GHz CPU, 512MB of RAM, a 4” display and a not so-impressive 4GB of storage.

Oh dear...

A few days ago we were tipped on a story by blog Insideris who received alleged diagrams of what Windows Phone 8 was suppose to look like in terms of UI layout.

We didn't run the story because we personally thought they were crap, pardon our French. With no source named or vouched for by the originating site, there was no compelling reason to believe they're real. So into the trash the story went.

Now WinSource has done us the favor of taking those sketches and making them "real" by adding color and filling it in with actual material to better visualize what it'd be like The result can be seen above.

We still doubt the authenticity of the original mockups and now that we see what it would like like "in real life" boy are we hoping, nay praying that they are fake. To us this looks way, way too cluttered. Sure, it's the power users dream but for those of us who enjoy simplicity and minimalism, it's nothing but a UI nightmare akin to something we'd get on Android. (At least some of it is terrible, other aspects could be useful...)

So here's hoping to these being fake and at the very least, these can illustrate what a UI should not look like. (If these are real, we'll do our best to eat crow.)

Nokia was reacently granted a patent (D655,698) with the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) in early March for a new smartphone "ornamental" design . What makes the filing interesting though is that it seemingly matches what appears to be prototypes from a supposed Nokia promotional video leaked last August (see stills below).

At the time, that video and phones shown within, were thought to be fake but alas, they happen to look exactly like those now revealed in the granted patent. You want more? As pointed out by LiveSide.net, the day that promo video hit the internet, August 10th, was the same day that the patent was filed.

That certainly makes things a bit interesting.

No doubt Nokia has more deigns in the works for their new Windows Phone line up. The USPTO images clearly show the typical Windows Phone buttons on the right hand side: Volume, Power and camera, matching that of their Lumia 610, 800 and 900 devices (the 710 has power on the top). What remains to be seen, however, is whether this is low-end, mid-range or high-end device, assuming it ever gets made.

One of the surprise announcements today by AT&T was the inclusion of the glossy white version of the Nokia Lumia 900, due for release on April 22nd, just a few weeks after its Black and Cyan cousins. Back at Mobile World Congress, Nokia told us they had offered AT&T the white option as well, but at the time they had not taken it. However, it looks like AT&T changed their mind, possibly due to positive word of mouth and are now set to offer that color variant as well.

Anyways what you see above is the first image of the all-white AT&T version, which of course looks identical to the unlocked version except for that logo and AT&T software. We haven't seen this image floated around yet, so it's new to us.

Personally, we're torn between the Cyan and White version as both offer something different from the tried and tired "black slab" (yes, true #firstworldproblems here). For what it's worth, nearly 500 of you or 11.5% are waiting for the all-white version.

Oh and speaking of color variants, take this with a pinch of salt, but in our comments, WPCentral member mamacita42 had this to say:

"I was told by my local AT&T rep that the magenta/pink Lumia 900 was coming for Mothers day."

Certainly plausible, but we're not ready to believe just yet. But we wouldn't be shocked either. Thanks, anon, for the image

WPCentral mockup: HTC Radiant

Our go-to-guy for device renders, Brian, is back with another high quality mockup of the HTC Radiant (click to zoom) The Radiant is thought to be basically the HTC Titan but with LTE on board, slightly thicker for the larger battery and some minor cosmetic changes.

Pocketnow leaked the blurry image the other day and now Brian has gone ahead and made it much nicer to look at with more detail. By all accounts, it looks like a Titan to our eyes, but we're sure once we hold one the differences will become more obvious.

Follow Brian here on Twitter and see his work with the LG Fantasy and Nokia 900.

Mockup of Nokia 900 shows phone in new light

A few days ago we posted the leaked "holiday card" from Pocketnow that supposedly showed bits and pieces of the Nokia "Ace" or 900 with AT&T branding. Those images could be faked as renders are notoriously easy to spoof and let's be honest...black slab Nokia phones are not exactly too difficult to imagine.

But assuming that leak is accurate, we can finally see what the phone would look like in all its glory. One of the readers at The Nokia Blog took matters into his own hands and assembled a "full" image from those leaked shots, giving us a full frontal shot (Wait, we're still talking about phones, right?). Incidently, it does look more and more like that "mystery" Nokia phone from the Microsoft promotional video is this phone, no?

Just off the cuff it looks like a modified Nokia Lumia 800 which is exactly what we're expecting. We'll admit though, it's hard to excited over a render even if it is accurate. Nokia phones are more about the quality in the hand and less about initial looks, so until we get our hands on one, we're going to remain less enthusiastic over this stuff.

The Nokia 900 "Ace" is expected to feature a 4.3" "clear black" screen, 16GB of storage, 4G LTE, front-facing camera and a 1.4GHz CPU. Launch is rumored to in March with an announcement next Monday at CES which we'll be attending.

This is NOT the HTC Obsession

Sorry folks, we're just throwing this out there to say this is in NO WAY the HTC Obsession nor the HTC Supersonic (a rumored Sprint WiMax Android device), so don't get your hopes up.

In fact, an anonymous comment at Andoid Central notes that this is actually a rendering from late 2008, made by a fella who loves to concept work as a hobby.

So yeah, move a long. Nothing to see here.
