Top Star Wars Games for Windows Phone

Windows Phone Central Game Roundup: Star Wars

There is little argument that the Star Wars franchise has had its fair share of success. From the movies to action figures to video games the Star Wars logo always seems to draw a crowd. I can remember watching the first installment, Episode IV: A New Hope, countless times in theaters and being amazed at the special effects (that seem to pale in comparison with what we have today).

This week we’re taking an easy approach to the roundup, focusing on the top Star Wars games (and a few apps) that are available for the Windows Phone platform. While Star Wars is a popular genre, its presence in the Windows Phone Store is a little on the thin side. There are some entertaining and challenging Star Wars games but some rather obvious omissions. Hopefully that will change.

Windows Phone Central Game Roundup: WPCentral Team Favorites

Every week we try to roundup a collection of top apps and games for our Windows Phones based on store ratings, overall popularity and your recommendations. After receiving a tip from WPCentral reader Juilian asking what are the best games for Windows Phone, instead of just listing the top rated games in the Windows Phone Store we decided to approach it from a different angle.

This week’s roundup is based on recommendations from our motley crew as to what the top Windows Phone games are. These titles are simply ones we have enjoyed playing and would gladly suggest them to others. With this roundup, we will highlight a small collection of our favorites and follow up with a supplemental list of even more gaming titles we think highly of.

While we have a healthy list of suggestions, if we have overlooked your top Windows Phone game, feel free to toss out your recommendations in the comments below.

Customizing your Windows Phone Lockscreen

Our Windows Phone lockscreen serves two purposes. It gives us an opportunity to glance at key information without having to unlock our Windows Phone and it affords us an opportunity to stylize our phone’s appearance.

Through the native lockscreen settings you have the ability to customize the wallpaper that will appear and tweak what bits of information will appear. In addition to the native Windows Phone lockscreen settings, there are plenty of apps available in the Windows Phone Store to let you customize your lockscreen further.

While this may be old hat to some, we’ll touch base on a few of the options available to customize your Windows Phone lockscreen after the break.

Windows Phone Central App Roundup: Weather Apps

There is little debate on whether or not we have an ample selection of weather related apps in the Windows Phone Store. Some will argue we have too many Windows Phone weather apps, while others like the variety and options available. Top Fitbit Apps for Windows Phone

Windows Phone Central App Roundup: Fitbit Apps

Many of us took on New Year’s resolutions to get into better shape, lose weight or another fitness/health goal. In pursuing these goals, you may look to the Fitbit line of activity trackers to help you manage your fitness goals. The Fitbit line of devices track your steps, distance traveled, stairs climbed and sleep. The overall Fitbit system helps you manage additional activities that aren't registered with the device, your diet and weight. From the pocketable Fitbit One to the digital display of the Fitbit Force, these little devices are fantastic fitness oriented devices.

While Fitbit has released “official” apps over on iOS, we are still waiting for the official Windows Phone version. Not all is lost though in that Fitbit has made their API available to developers and we have a few capable un-official Fitbit apps in the Windows Phone Store. This week’s Windows Phone Central roundup will focus on a few of the top rated Fitbit apps available for Windows Phone. Hopefully it will not be long until Fitbit releases an official app but in the meantime, these third party alternatives aren’t too shabby.

Admittedly, I'm not a big fan of Windows Phone toddler apps. However, for the longest I made the the mistake of overlooking some fine apps in this category. Several of my friends who are parents, keep pointing me to some great apps in this category that help keep the children occupied but also helping them learn a little along the way.

In this post, we have chosen three learning apps for Windows Phone to spotlight that were developed by Sumit Dutta, a prolific Windows developer from India. When I met him few months back, he mentioned that his young daughter was the inspiration for him to create so many popular learning apps for toddlers for Windows Phone and Windows 8 devices.
