rumor

The Twitter account @evleaks, which has proved to be a reliable source in the past, has today tweeted am alleged leaked screenshot of Windows Phone 8.1 "Blue." This screenshot shows virtual, on-screen capacitive buttons with the familiar back, Windows and search setup. Just like Android, you're looking at a black bar at the bottom of the screen with all three buttons present.

Do you want a Nokia device running Android? According to The Verge, Nokia has been building it under the code name, Normandy. It runs a forked version of Android on some really low-end hardware similar to what Amazon does with the Kindle Fire.

The Verge’s sources say:

Normandy is designed as an Asha equivalent to push low-cost devices with access to more traditional smartphone apps — something the company has struggled to achieve for its Series 40-powered Asha line.

Nokia rumored to be working on dual-SIM Windows Phone

There are some of us who require a mobile phone with multiple SIMs, whether this be due to having two numbers or be frequently traveling abroad with a local SIM on-hand to avoid extreme contract fees. Nokia has dual-SIM hardware available within its Asha line of low-end smartphones, but we're yet to see a Windows Phone support this feature.

That's about to change, account to a new tweet by leakster @evleaks with the codename "Moneypenny" being thrown into the mix. We previously looked at Moneypenny when both itself and "Goldfinger" were unveiled, the former reported to introduce Jedi hand gesture support.

The time is nigh. Steve Ballmer announced his retirement plan not very long ago, leaving Microsoft quite little time to find the best candidate for its next CEO.

There have been rumors all around, highlighting key figures like Stephen Elop and Alan Mulally. Now a new round of rumors has arrived, saying that the board of directors at Microsoft has already made up their collective mind on this matter, and the decision is sort of surprising and not surprising at the same time.

The Nokia Lumia 525 is a rather mysterious Windows Phone, but more details on the Lumia 520 successor are beginning to emerge. We recently looked at the handset passing certification in china (coupled with the above renders - since removed) and now full specifications alongside a press render have been published on the Chinese website, Baidu.

The leaks, they keep coming. It seems that ever since Microsoft announced their plans to buy Nokia’s devices and services division the world has only sped up. Since then, we’ve seen steady information flowing out for Windows Phone 8.1, the Xbox One, and the Nokia Lumia 1520.  All products coming out in the relative near future that we can’t wait to play with.

So why would today be any different? Yesterday we learned that the Lumia 1520 is most likely coming to AT&T in early November. A lot of non-AT&T customers are feeling left out with the high-end Lumia love. Don’t be too jealous if you’re on Verizon, you might be getting your own special variant of the Lumia 1520.

Nokia has been rumoured to be planning a Windows 8 tablet along with a "phablet" running Windows Phone. Both products have never seen the light of day, but we could well be getting closer to seeing a large Windows Phone from Nokia, if the above image published on Chinese website Weibo is anything to go by. We know many consumers will be looking forward to see just what could come of this, especially if we're to follow the route of the Samsung Galaxy Note.

Howdy everyone, it's rumor time!

An unnamed source supposedly close to Nokia China just sent an interesting message to the outside world: the impending Nokia EOS will have a "camera shell" to go with that super mega awesome camera of modern technical wonder. According to the rumor, the accessory is a shell snapped on to the back of the phone, "raising the entire back side to level the camera hump, and providing better grip when using the phone as a digital camera". Additionally, the shell is said to have a shutter button built into it, further enhancing the photoshooting experience.

HTC is believed to be working on a new Windows Phone, according to reports. It's said the upcoming device will not be a complete re-hash of the HTC One, a popular Android handset, but it will take some cues from the metal flagship smartphone.

We're supposedly looking at a screen size between 4 and 5 inches and will be constructed with a body made from metal. Beats Audio and Windows Phone GDR3 are said to also be included. If this is the case then this rumour could be a while off, if true.

For being a weekend it’s been somewhat busy. Yesterday we had leaked screenshots showing off a developer build of Windows Phone 8.x – notification center in tow.

The notification center was obviously the biggest piece of info from those screenshots, but there was plenty more info to be gleamed from the phone. Quick recap after the break and a story of what happened to the phone bought off of eBay that contained this build of the Windows Phone. And don’t forget, our sources say those screenshots are an “early” build of the next-version OS.

The first screenshots of what looks to be the next major build of Windows Phone 8.x have been revealed. We show you what's new.

A reddit thread posted just over 8 hours ago tells the story of a user who has purchased a Nokia Lumia 920 from eBay only to discover they are in possession of a device that seems to have once belonged to a Microsoft engineer.

Said user has posted several screenshots from the device which appear to show off a brand new calendar design, the ability to organise apps by frequency of use, and perhaps most interestingly: a notification center.

Whilst we can’t be 100% certain of this information, the quantity of screenshots that have been provided, as well as the presence of what appear to be internal apps still in development definitely lends some credibility to this rumour, in fact we're going to go ahead and give this a 7 on the rum-o-meter. Check below for a few of the screenshots and a list of the revealed features so far, or head over to flickr to see the originals yourself.

Microsoft has a goal for its well-received line of Windows 8 tablets, according to Paul Thurrott. Sources have revealed the company plans to take up and maintain 50 percent of all Windows tablet sales in the coming year with their Surface lineup. Microsoft already achieved this figure in Q1 2013 when Surface hardware took 50 percent of the Windows tablet pie, but there's more to the story.

Just ahead of Nokia's new device revaluation in London, which is supposed to spearhead a whole new wave of new Lumia phones and an exciting new year for the manufacturer, there comes rumor that Chinese Windows Phone OEMs will play their cards cautious for 2013.

Citing insider sources, Chinese tech site WPDang claims that Huawei will churn out one single new Windows Phone for the new year: the Ascend W2, which reportedly sports a 5" screen. Not much to look up to, just this one shot.

Rumor: Nokia to reveal "Catwalk" in London on May 14

Nokia's new product announcement in London is less than a week away, and as usual, the product to be revealed just got leaked in advance. Citing unnamed insider source, Chinese tech site WPDang claims that Nokia's London event is about just one device: the previously leaked "Catwalk" aka Lumia 925 930.

Catwalk reportedly sports a shell design with a mix of polycarbonate and aluminum, as depicted in the leaked picture up above.

A couple of days ago the Instagram icon was spotted on a Nokia Lumia 620 promotion banner, stirring up expectations near and far. By itself, the banner probably means nothing. Could be nothing but a careless photoshopping error from the designer, right? But now interesting rumor is coming out of China, the wonderland of leaks, again pointing to Instagram availability on Windows Phone.

Canadian network Rogers is to stock the Samsung ATIV S, according to an unconfirmed source who tipped MobileSyrup. The Samsung Windows Phone was unveiled at the company's event earlier this year at IFA in Berlin. Bell is also reported to be looking to launch the ATIV S, which will provide more affordable choice for Canadians should both carriers compete.
