Simple Calendar

Simple Calendar is one of our favorite third-party calendar apps for Windows Phone, and even though the native calendar improved in Windows Phone 8.1, this app still has a great design. Today, version 4.5.2.0 is live in the Store and if you’re on 8.1, you may have had the app auto-update.

So what’s new? We have all  the details.

Simple Calendar is a clean looking alternative to the native Windows Phone calendar. The Windows Phone 8 app uses your existing calendars, making setup easy and has an extremely user friendly interface. The calendar app ranks amongst the best we’ve seen and an update is now available, taking Simple Calendar to version 3.5.

The version 3.5 update for Simple Calendar mainly deals with the app’s Live Tile feature by adding two new styles and an option to show the last updated time for all wide tile styles.

Simple Calendar is a minimalist calendar client with a focus on content as opposed to cluttering the UI, much like Windows Phone in general. This latest release isn't a massive upgrade to the experience, but does include new features opening up new functionality. We've previously highlighted Simple Calendar for its simply stunning use of the Modern UI, especially regarding the Live Tiles. Speaking of which, head past the break to see what's new.

One of our top calendar apps for Windows Phone 8 would be the aptly name Simple Calendar. The replacement scheduler app has one of the nicest looking Live Tiles that we’ve come across and the unpretentious UI makes using it a breeze to operate.

Version 2.4 just went live in the Store and it finally brings small and medium versions of the Gob and Frodo themed tiles, allowing you to customize the look even more. While version 2.4 isn’t a major overhaul, it does bring with it a lot of small but tremendously useful additions.

We gave you a sneak peek last week of Simple Calendar version 2.0, featuring a swanky new Modern UI inspired Live Tiles and easy to read calendar system. While version 1.2 had been sitting on the Store we promised we’d update you when that major revamp went through and sure enough, it’s live now.

Version 2.0 brings with it a bunch of new changes, including another new Live Tile that we didn’t show you the last time: Gob. That’s in addition to Frodo, which we used in the hands on video. Gob has a background which matches your theme (dark or light) and dare we say it’s our favorite.

Simple Calendar, currently available for Windows Phone 8 as a free app, is about to get a nice update to version 2.0. We’ve been using it over the weekend and you can color us impressed.

Check out our video below to see what's coming next!
