sold out

A couple of days ago we reported that pre-sales of the new Surface 2 and Surface Pro 2 were doing very well, with stock running low on a few variations of the new hardware. Indeed, we can now confirm Microsoft wasn’t bluffing as the Surface Pro 2 (128 GB) is now listed as ‘out of stock’ through the Microsoft Store online.

It’s not clear how much initial inventory Microsoft planned for nor if the the 128 GB version will be replenished in the coming weeks. Presumably Microsoft can adjust manufacturing orders for the devices accordingly and we may see the 128 GB version come back online in the coming days.

The new Microsoft Surface Pro tablet hasn't been on the shelves long and we are already getting tips that the tablet is sold out everywhere. Even for customers who pre-ordered the Surface Pro from local retailers.

One reader pre-ordered his at the local Best Buy only to learn that the store only received three units. Similar experiences were reported at other retail locations such as Staples with very limited supplies of the new Windows 8 tablet being delivered for launch day. Some stores are getting plenty of the 64GB models but no 128GB models which appears to have the greater demand.

The Lumia 822 (or Lumia 820 for those of us outside the US) is a Nokia Windows Phone 8 device that sits comfortably next to the Lumia 920, albeit with a few features missing from the specifications sheet. The smartphone is exclusive to Verizon and the US mobile operator has also taken the opportunity to launch a red version of the device for Valentine's Day. This colour, along with grey are currently both sold out.

We’re still not quite sure what the situation is for Nokia’s stock of the Lumia 920. Word is that they kept production limits tight due to a fear of having a warehouse filled with unsold devices just collecting dust. That’s a dangerous position to be in when your financials are as precarious as Nokia’s.

Being the case, it’s still interesting to read that in the Netherlands, where the Lumia 920 just went on sale today, at least one major reseller (Bol.com) is already reporting stock is so low that they can’t guarantee any orders past tomorrow. To make it worse, they don’t even know when the device will be back in stock.

If news of the Lumia 920 selling out in China, but then being withheld due to incorrect pricing, wasn't enough then we've also got word that both Telstra and Clove have both sold out in the first day of going live. It appears (depending on how many units were stocked in the first batch) demand is high for the handsets - even at full / the correct price.

For those of you looking to buy an HTC 8X SIM free in the UK, you’ll be pleased to know that the device is coming back into stock with new California Blue devices expected today and Black expected to return in the next 48 hours.

Unfortunately there is no word on a release date for the Red and Limelight yellow versions, which are like rare Pokemon, evidently. As soon as we hear they’re in stock we’ll let you know.

We’re still not sure what is going on with Best Buy and their preorder for the AT&T Nokia Lumia 920—for instance, why do they have it and not even AT&T? Nor why was the Lumia 920 pulled (and yet other links still worked).

Regardless, if you do use those inks for Best Buy and the Lumia 920, you’ll see that all five colors are now listed as “sold out online”

Nokia had recently brought down the price of the Lumia 800, no doubt to help clear some inventory for the Windows Phone 8 launch. Seems like the price cut is doing wonders for sales in Finland where it’s purportedly selling out.

The Lumia 800 and 900 with the 100 Euro price cut certainly put them in the too good to miss bargain category. Could this price cut be just what Windows Phone needs to boost those numbers?

The other day we made note that the AT&T Nokia Lumia 900 was selling strong based on the rankings over at Amazon.com. Today, it appears the strong sales numbers are based on the availability or un-availability of the Lumia 900 in AT&T's retail stores.

We've received several tips that the cyan Lumia 900 is completely sold out at various AT&T Retail Stores. WPCentral.com reader MaulerX reports that you can't find a cyan Lumia 900 at any of the AT&T Retail Stores in New York City.  Even Wichita, Kansas stores are sold out (thanks Seth!) of all Lumia 900 models.

Even Paul Roth, AT&T's President of Retail Sales and Service, in a WSJ.com interview recognized the sales of the Lumia 900 has exceeded AT&T's expectations and that some AT&T stores had sold out of the Windows Phone, particularly the cyan model.

And it's not only the devices that appear to be selling well. Nokia accessories are becoming harder to find. For example, the cyan case for the Lumia 900 is listed as "Out of Stock" over at AT&T's website.  Sounds like blue is the color of choice for a lot of Windows Phone users.

While the Lumia 900's launch did have a slight stumble with the connectivity issues, which Nokia is promptly responding to and stepping up to the plate to make right,, from a sales perspective the launch appears to be a success.  Sound off in the comments if you're having trouble finding the Lumia 900 or if you've found a store with plenty of cyan models.

Thanks, everyone, for the tips!

According to a report at e's Phoneblog and Kauppalehti the Lumia 800, which launched in Finland yesterday, has been selling at a fairly fast rate. Jonne works at Gigantti (an electronics retailer) and states that while he doesn't know the exact Lumia 800 sale figures at the store, he has sold more handsets than he did N8s within two days of the Symbian handset being launched.

Elisa's Executive Vice President, Henri Korpi, told Kauuppalehti today that they have sold out of Nokia's mid-range Windows Phone in some of their stores. Still no numbers provided, but we are expecting to see some positive feedback should figures become available. What makes this story extra special is that Lumia 800 buyers in the land of Nokia are braving snow storms (-27°C) to reach retailers. Now that is dedication.

AT&T has sold out the HTC Titan

We had a feeling the HTC Titan would take off with a storm simply because it sports a massive screen and is well built (see our review), so it's good to see the AT&T website displaying a "SOLD OUT" notice for the Windows Phone. Unfortunately, this means you'll have to wait some time to get one yourself, but Best Buy currently has the Titan stocked for free, all that's required is a new two year contract to be taken out.

While we know some new AT&T phones are right around the corner and that the original Focus is on its way out (EOL), it's still a bit interesting to see it get sold out. Part of that may because it's priced so low now and lets face it, with Mango on board is still a pretty amazing phone. What's odd is usually we get a "out of stock" for region and perhaps it's just the New York Metro area and not nationwide. But even still, that's a big market.

And we're not sure if this has always been there or is something new, but the HD7 and Focus are both available for prepaid "Go Plans" on AT&T. You basically buy the phone full price but then pay just $50 month to month (voice and text only). Not bad for someone who doesn't want a full contract.

Thanks, Theo and Juan, for the tips!

For those looking to get the Verizon Trophy, at least online, they have temporarily disabled ordering due to not enough stock. Yup, you've read that right.

We're starting to wonder if one of the reasons for the continued delay was the inability to stock enough of the phone in the first place. Granted, we assumed that the Trophy may sell well on Big Red, but not that well (though wouldn't we and Verizon like to be surprised).

We'll keep track to see if and when the phone is available for online purchases, but for now, taking a trip to your local store (or call to order) may be your best bet.

Well that was fast. For awhile, the Samsung Focus wasn't even listed on Amazon's Wireless site for actual purchase. Then it was. Briefly.

And at  7pm EST, the site is now listing the phone as "Out of Stock" even though the HTC Surround is still available (for $99 no less).

With reports of stores only have as many as 12 and as little as 2 devices on hand, we guess it's no surprise that they sold out so quick. Not to mention, 43% of you said the Focus was going to be your phone today, blowing away the the HD7 (16%) and the Venue Pro with a whopping 26%, not bad considering how hard it's to find that one.

Some preliminary news coming from O2 suggests that the HTC HD7 is quite the hit, with pre-orders being sold out and the telecom reporting "at least five-digit sales". O2 also have an exclusive on the device till an unknown time, similar to T-Mobile U.S.

So far, no word on our side of the pond on HD7 pre-orders and it will be interesting to see how next Monday goes when the device is finally made available. It's not clear if T-Mo will carry it in stores that day too, but we'll keep an ear out. Any of you get your orders in or are you waiting?
