subway surfers

One of the more popular endless running games out there, Subway Surfers, has had a big update in time for Easter. Players can now run through the subways of Rome, and access a new local racer, Roberto. There are also weekly egg hunts with unique rewards, plus a new unlockable costume for Zoe and a new Kick-off board to earn. To top things off, there’s a fresh series of Spray Can Awards for rising to particularly tricky challenges.

Another month and another update for the popular endless runner Subway Surfers. And no, this one too does not have 512 MB RAM support, so you can stop reading if that is what you want to know.

Instead, users today can head to the Store to update their Subway Surfers game to version 1.2, which includes the new New York City ‘World Tour’ theme. Previous world tour themes included Seoul, Miami and the Christmas theme (Mumbai was skipped due to timing with the other platforms).

We have some great news for you Subway Surfers fans out there, as version 1.18.1 is now live in the Store. The update brings the brand new World Tour: Miami theme.

Windows Phone users had to skip World Tour: Mumbai due to the extended Christmas theme and challenges. Those ended yesterday. What’s more, Windows Phone is getting the update the very same day as iOS and Android, making it one of the first times all three platforms land at once.

Now for the bad news: this update does not bring 512 MB support. Users will still need 1 GB of more RAM in order to get in on the latest Miami action, so users of the Lumia 520, 620, 625 and 720 will have to sit this one out.

Another morning and another crop of app updates.

This morning we only have four (so far), but we’re sure that will change as the day goes on. Let’s get these four out of the way, since they’re some pretty big apps or games for your Windows Phone, including Flixster finally (finally!) getting UltraViolet support for Windows Phone 8.

This one is coming out of nowhere but Kiloo Games and Sybo Games have released Subway Surfers for Windows Phone. We’ve confirmed with Microsoft that this is an official release and not a clone. Indeed, it’s the same version number as the one for the iPhone, that is version 1.16.

Subway Surfers is yet another endless runner, but it has gained a ton of popularity, rivaling Temple Run. First released in May 2012, this game has been one of the top requested titles for Windows Phone and now that day is here.

Temple Run and its sequel are two extremely popular games on other mobile platforms that have yet to migrate to Windows Phone. We know one of them is coming eventually, but unfortunately the series creator Imangi has been tight-lipped with details. Still, Temple Run isn’t the only 3D endless runner in town.

Subway Surfers from Kiloo also has quite a following on competing platforms. Technically the characters slide, glide and fly around on vehicles as opposed to running, but it’s definitely an endless runner at heart. And soon we’ll be subway surfing on Windows Phone 8!
