We're at the Everything Everywhere (now 'EE') presentation for its announcement of the UK's first LTE network. The company, unveiling its new brand, will be putting EE alongside Orange and T-Mobile to offer consumers a choice of three established names to choose from for unique deals, extras and performance.

Using existing infrastructure, the LTE 4G rollout for the UK is expected to be complete by 2015 with 70% going live by the end of 2013 and 98% in 2014. The transition of both the brand and LTE network begins today, and four cities are having their LTE 'turned on' as we write - London, Birmingham, Cardiff and Bristol.

The Lumia 920 to sport LTE speeds on Orange / T-Mobile UK?

Nokia is reportedly in talks with Everything Everywhere to launch an LTE Windows Phone in the UK, according to the Financial Times. Everything Everywhere is the parent company of both Orange and T-Mobile UK, and has authorisation from UK communications regulator Ofcom to begin using its 1800 MHz spectrum to offer LTE and WiMAX services.

This will bring increased network capabilities to customers of both UK carriers, though which Nokia Windows Phone will be featured to launch on upgraded networks is unknown. Other UK carriers who desire to build up LTE / 4G networks will have to wait until next year, including the likes of Vodafone, O2 and Three. We’re likely to see Apple take advantage of new network speeds with the next iPhone.

According to a second leaked internal memo, T-Mobile US is set to kick off the Windows Phone Refresh (aka "Tango") rollout tomorrow, on June 27th. We previously received word from sources that June 20th was the destined date, but it seems as though the upgrade has been delayed slightly.

The Nokia Lumia 710 is the Windows Phone that will benefit from the update that will be installed via Zune (or the Mac Connector). Internet sharing capability, disappearing keyboard fix, as well as a number of other improvements, are bundled with introduced features which will please those who have been waiting patiently.

Be sure to keep a watchful eye on the lookout for any update notifications.

Thanks, Jacinta, for the tip!

T-Mobile UK are rolling out the Lumia 800 12070 firmware update, according to customers who have received the notification. We received a few comments on our article covering the Three UK roll out last week that T-Mobile still haven't kick-started the process.

As mentioned before, depending on carriers who chose to release it, the 12070 firmware update will be rolled out to new countries on April 4th, 11th, and 18th until the update has been pushed out to every Lumia 800.

The firmware 12070 "battery fix" update will significantly improve available use between charges by optimisation to bring down the discharge rate. We noticed after updating a drop from 200mAh to <100mAh

Let us know in the comments should you also be receiving the update.

Thanks Scott for the tip!

It has been officially announced on the T-Mobile U.S. support forum that the carrier is rolling out the Windows Phone 8107 update out to HTC HD7 owners. The 8107 OS update introduces numerous changes, but the highlight is the fix for the disappearing keyboard bug.

Be sure to check Zune (or the Mac Windows Phone Connector) for the notification. Unfortunately there's still no word on a 8107 rollout date for Lumia 710 owners on the T-Mobile network, though you can hack the handset to receive the update along with new firmware.

This has been confirmed by our readers who have received the update notification on their handsets. Let us know when you get yours in the comments.

T-Mobile U.S. is hosting a "My First Smartphone" sweepstake on their Facebook page. What are the grand prizes? Nokia Lumia 710 handsets and a free year of service, for four lucky winners. All that's required from entrants are personal details (as is the case with any Facebook promotion) as well as describing what smartphone feature(s) would change your life in 100 words or less.

The competition is perfect for those who are yet to upgrade to a smartphone with the Lumia 710 being a superb low-end Windows Phone. Competition ends on February 17th. Be sure to check out the sweepstake rules.

T-Mobile U.S. is set to launch the Lumia 710 in just under a week's time (for just $49.99 - not available for pre-order), and the stores are now starting to receive units (as can be seen above). The 710 is Nokia's first Windows Phone to launch in the states, and will mark the birth of a huge marketing campaign

With how Nokia has tackled Europe and the far east, it'll be interesting to see how the 710 is received in the U.S. and how the manufacturer pushes the handsets out the doors to consumers. Of course, we're still waiting on the Lumia 900 announcement, which will be the brother that's just finished working out at the gym.

T-Mobile is looking to kick-start 2012 with a bang, following some interesting deals closing off the year. A New Year sale will be activated on the first weekend of January, starting Friday 6th, through to Sunday 8th. The Windows Phone on sale is the HTC Radar 4G (our review) running Mango. The only catch is that the purchase must be accompanied by a two-year Value Plan contract.

Should you be interested in the handset, after a $50 mail-in rebate, you'll be able to pick one up for just $49.99.

The Venue Pro, Dell's poor first generation Windows Phone, has found itself in trouble being plagued by issues (as well as lagging behind OS updates), been at the front of some good deals, and is tagged as Dell's only contribution to the platform for the foreseeable future. Should you be after the handset which sports a 4.1" AMOLED display, 1Ghz processor, 5MP camera, and a vertical slide-out QWERTY keyboard, you can pick one up for $299 unlocked. If contracts are more your scene, T-Mobile is offering the Venue Pro on a two-year plan for just $.99, not bad.

While it's a solid deal for a Windows Phone that runs Mango smoothly, do note that there's no tethering and the compass is out of service. Be sure to check out our review for more information, and head on over to the source below to take advantage of the deals.

T-Mobile has an awesome sale starting up on December 17th, and ending on the 18th. For just two days, 4G handsets stocked by the carrier will be available for purchase for $0 after a mail-in-rebate. A few Windows Phones are included in this deal, the HTC Radar and HTC HD7. Handsets require a two-year contract (qualifying Value Plan) to be taken out, but for Christmas, a brand new 4G Windows Phone with a packed plan is a perfect present.

Nokia and T-Mobile U.S. are in full swing with their announced launch party of the Lumia 710, but what's coming up next for the Finnish Windows Phone manufacturer? Operation "Rolling Thunder", as it's internally referred to, is Nokia's plan for rolling out a number of handsets next year and aiming for multiple price points. Chris Weber, head of U.S. operations at Nokia, explained that the company will be at CES in January making a noise as they have been doing in Europe.

"We will be launching a portfolio of devices in the U.S. across a range of price points, user experience and operators. The rollouts are referred to internally as "Operation Rolling Thunder". We’ll have a very large presence [at CES] and it’ll be clear that Nokia is back in a quite strong way in the U.S."

We'll be sure to check out CES in Las Vegas to see what Nokia will be bringing to the event. The Nokia Lumia 900 is still on the list, a more powerful option for U.S. consumers, and is set to hit the states early 2012 if rumours are to be valid. Nokia has the daunting task of getting carriers on side to stock their Windows Phones. Battling hard against the iPhone and a plethora of Android handsets will make a successful and effective marketing campaign all that more important.

T-Mobile has the HTC Radar (our review) listed on their website for free, when taking out a two-year contract. Note that this is a web-only deal, so be sure to make the purchase online. Should you be interested, act now as the deal is set to end today. Sporting a 5MP camera, 1Ghz processor, 8GB storage and a 3.8" screen, the Radar is a perfect Mango handset for Christmas.

TMoNews is reporting that the Nokia Lumia 710 is slated to be introduced to the T-Mobile line-up in January of 2012. The internal codename is being listed as "Sword" and the Windows Phone will be available in black and white colors. Makes sense as we first broke the news about the phone passing the FCC with T-Mo bands a few days ago.

No word if "Sword" will stick and we'll see the curtain raise on the T-Mobile Nokia Sword come this January.

We liked what we saw of the Lumia 710 at Nokia World. The 710 sports a 3.7" WVGA 800x480 TFT screen, 8GB of storage, 1.4ghz processor and a 5mp rear facing camera.

So... two questions for our T-Mobile customers. First, happy with the 710 or would you have rather seen the Lumia 800 hitting the shelves? Second, should T-Mobile stick with "Sword"?

Attention fellow Brits, there's a pretty neat deal that's ongoing with the Nokia Lumia 800 on T-Mobile. You can get the Windows Phone Mango handset for nothing at all, tied to a 24 month contract at £25.54, not bad. What's more is you can get £40 automatic cash back, which brings down the total monthly charge to £23.87 a month.

Boom! Here it is, folks. Those of you who are with T-Mobile in the UK and desire the Nokia 800 can rejoice as the carrier has put up a coming soon page for the handset. Should you wish to register your interest and be notified when it becomes available for order, simply fill in the form and should you be with another carrier with a soon-to-expire contract, perhaps T-Mobile will work up a deal?

T-Mobile has posted a small announcement within the support section of the website, on the HTC HD7 support page, that asks customers not to contact the carrier with regards to the Mango update for the HD7. They state that it's "coming" and is ready for deployment, customers will receive a notification soon (don't pay too much attention to the 2 weeks time frame provided).

The link for the installation instructions takes us to a Zune update walkthrough page. It was published in August this year so it's definitely for Mango. There you go T-Mobile Windows Phone users, some hope for you and light at the end of the tunnel.

Microsoft is giving away free Xbox games when you purchase a new Windows Phone 7 device.  Regardless if you purchase the phone through AT&T, T-Mobile, from Amazon.com or any other Windows Phone retailer you can claim your game.

Eligible models include the Samsung Focus, LG Quantum, HTC Surround, HTC HD7, and Dell Venue Pro.

The offer is valid on purchase made between December 17, 2010 and December 31, 2010. The game titles aren't too shabby and include:

  • Kinectimals
  • Kinect Joy Ride
  • Fable III
  • Halo Reach

To claim your game, you'll need to complete a redemption form that is available at www.myfreexbox360game.com and send it in along with a copy of your purchase reciept and a copy of the UPC code from your Windows Phone packaging.  You can find the full Terms and Conditions here.

It may not match Telus's offer to give you a free Xbox 360 gaming system, but it's still a very good offer on some very entertaining games.

Thanks goes out to Robert for the tip!
